Huggies Super-Dry nappies have been relaunched with new and improved credentials. Despite being a lower price, you’d be hard pressed to spot the different between Huggies Super-Dry and Huggies’ other styles in terms of performance. However, there is one small niggle.

Having been a Huggies user since my 20-week-old daughter Rosie was born, I was keen to try out Huggies Super-Dry nappies. Can a cheaper nappy really provide the unbeatable leak-free dryness they claim? I don’t think any nappy is infallible, but these are pretty good.

Rosie, I think it’s fair to say, has her daddy’s toilet habits. The smells, noises and little presents that make it into her nappy are far more reminiscent of him than me! And because of that, we need a nappy we can really rely on. Huggies Super-Dry certainly makes some big claims. The stretchy waistband and breathable outer layer mean you can leave your baby in the same nappy for up to 12 hours, which is pretty impressive.

As with all Huggies nappies, Super-Dry are designed with Disney’s Winnie the Pooh on them and the Super-Dry feel as snug and luxurious as all top-of-the-range nappies, including Huggies’ more expensive disposables.

What we love

I’m inclined to agree with the unbeatable dryness. When Rosie’s due for a nappy change, the Huggies Super-Dry definitely seems less full compared to other nappies on the market. Even her first change of the day, when she’s been wearing the same nappy for nine hours, is absolutely fine. And when she does drop that 10pm feed, I’ll have no qualms leaving her for the full 12 hours.

If it saves a few pennies, it can only be a good thing and whereas Huggies Super-Dry nappies are still dearer than Pampers Simply Dry, they definitely feel better quality. If you’d given me a Huggies Super-Dry and a Huggies Natural Fit, I wouldn’t have been able to tell which was the more expensive nappy.

They definitely get the thumbs up from me!

What to watch out for

The only downside is the size. Compared to other brands, Huggies Super-Dry can be on the big side. While this means there’s plenty of space for absorption, I did have one occasion when we had a big leak. There was more than just wee in the nappy but it was a leak none-the-less. The size doesn’t especially bother me and I’d be happy to continue buying these nappies but I have a friend who’s switched brands purely because of that – and she’s waiting for her little boy’s bottom to get a bit meatier before she switches back!!

Who are Huggies Super-Dry nappies best for?

Parents after a reasonably priced big-name disposable that can last up to 12 hours.

MadeForMums verdict

If you can live with the size factor, Huggies Super-Dry are fantastic nappies that don’t hit your purse as hard as other options. The fact that they’re cheaper without being noticeably different from the other varieties in the Huggies range speaks volumes.
