When in motion, the front and rear wheel suspension facilitates a smooth ride, and the foam expandable handle means you benefit too from the signature Mamas & Papas comfort. A lie-flat carrycot is included, which is so cosy you’ll want to move in yourself. A changing bag, parasol and raincover are included too, so the price tag offers great value.
The Glide is slightly wide, but you can remove the swivel wheels easily when putting into your car. As a buggy, it weighs 10.85kg.
The Glide buggy turns into a travel system with either the Mamas & Papas Cybex Aton or Mamas & Papas Primo Viaggio car seat, plus car seat adaptors. At the time of writing this review, the Glide with Cybex Aton car seat (which I tested) was available for £489, down from the usual £669 bundle price. With the 3.5kg buggy attached, the Glide travel system is 10.7kg.
What we love
As soon as I put my daughter Heidi into the Glide buggy she looked at home. The seat is quite wide, but the harness is secure enough so it doesn’t feel like she’s sliding around. She has plenty of space to kick her little feet around, and she absolutely loves the leg rest. It seems to settle her down instantly.
I love that the buggy can lie flat, as I’ve found that Heidi definitely sleeps a lot longer in that position, giving me a tiny bit more peaceful shopping time. And, the nice big hood, which folds up and down with ease, gives enough coverage to protect her from the sun.
I thought it mightn’t be as easy to manoeuvre the Glide as it has four wheels instead of the very popular 3-wheeler set-up you often seen around, but it glides along, as its name suggests. Turning corners is no problem, and it feels very safe. There’s no danger of the pushchair veering off or falling over. It’s a stable piece of equipment without feeling bulky.
Attaching the carrycot or car seat is straightforward. I didn’t even need the instructions. The carrycot, like a lot of Mamas & Papas products, is very snug, and I definitely wanted to climb in myself.
Of the two car seats you can use with the Glide, I used the Mamas & Papas Cybex Aton car seat with adaptors. It clicks on very easily and is comfortable, although slightly tricky to pull off as you need two hands to do it.
The Glide comes with all the accessories you need – parasol, raincover and changing bag. It really feels as though Mamas & Papas has thought of everything.
What to watch out for
The Glide is slightly wide, so could be a problem on narrow streets.
To be a little picky, the Glide could do with a viewing window on the expansive hood.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Glide travel system best for?
Mums who like quality products at the right price, and babies who love comfort.
A really good quality travel system that comes with everything you might need for a new baby. The Glide looks good, is simple to assemble and disassemble, easy to push and best of all, very comfortable for your baby. It’s slightly wide, but the extra space for your child can be a positive thing, especially if they like to fidget.
