The Prima Pappa highchair from Mamas and Papas has won numerous consumer awards since it was introduced. It is quite a large highchair but the size and padding on the seat make it very comfortable.??
Mamas and Papas, which has over 30 stores in the UK, was established when Italian couple David and Luisa were expecting their first child. They found there just weren’t enough beautiful things for their baby daughter and set about creating her a “world inspired by colour, shape, design, individuality, simplicity and creativity”. The couple founded Mamas and Papas and now, both their daughters, Amanda and Olivia have joined the business.
One of their most popular items is the Prima Pappa highchair which has four positions as well as a tab on the back of the seat which needs to gently pulled upward to make it tilt backwards and forwards.??
What we love ?
Prima Pappa – which means first meal in Italian – has a height adjustable seat to provide flexible dining heights. I have found this particularly useful as I needed it low to wean Biba. This feature combined with the removable tray means she can be pushed up to the table and share dinner time with us. I have also used the reclining seat mechanism. This is great for weaning and when Biba falls asleep! This highchair really will take you all the way from weaning to sitting up to the table.??
The best thing about the Prima Pappa is the sheer amount of features it has. The height adjustable seat, removable tray, adjustable backrest and the folding mechanism make it a versatile choice. My favourite feature is the double tray. This is so useful if Biba has made a mess whilst eating. I take the top tray off to wash it and the she is still left with a tray to continue playing. It folds down very easily, but I would not want to do this after every feed. Biba loves sitting in her Prima Pappa and it is a great seat for her to do colouring or reading.?
What to watch out for
The Prima Pappa is very difficult to clean. The covers are difficult to remove and once you have the covers off they can only be sponged clean. There are numerous crevices in the chair which food tends to migrate to – an issue which has been picked up numerous times by mums online. The cover is ‘removable’ but getting it off is no easy task.
It is attached to the body of the highchair with large poppers, which I had to lever off. There are many areas on the chair which food can get under so I really had to take the cover off to get all the food out but it is certainly not something I would want to do everyday. Once it had been removed I found so many bits of food I could have made a whole meal! ??
The Prima Pappa is quite a large highchair, so this is probably not a great choice if space is limited. It also has wheels, which are supposed to make is easy to move from room to room. In reality, however, it is quite difficult to push around corners due to its size and weight.?
