The Mamas & Papas Tour might be stylish and affordable, but it’s not the comfiest ride around.
Mamas & Papas, a UK based company inspired by the founders’ Italian roots, has carved out an impressive place in the baby and toddler market. Its buggies are well known and the brand as a whole is trusted and has a sound reputation. Mamas & Papas has a variety of lightweight buggies, including the Tour.
I received the Mamas & Papas Tour in the ‘Lemon Dot’ colourway and while I found it was very stylish, the ride that it gave my daughter was less than ideal. The Mamas & Papas Tour Buggy is one of the higher priced lightweight pushchairs at £110. Considering the price and the brand, I expected a bit more from the Mamas & Papas Tour.
What we love
The Mamas & Papas Tour lightweight buggy is stylish and good-looking with unique features like a storage pocket on the back of the buggy and convenient carry handles. The folding mechanism is very smooth and easy although if you have a footmuff attached it won’t fold up quite as compact as without it. While it is an umbrella-fold, it wasn’t too long to fit in the boot of my car (some can be a tight fit!).
The 5-point harness is adequate with nice padding on the shoulder straps. There’s also a viewing window in the hood.
The Mamas & Papas Tour seat has an adjustable leg rest, which allows your child to remain comfortable even when sleeping.
The recline mechanism for the Tour is smooth and easily adjusted. It allows you to have multiple recline positions for maximum comfort.
The handles of the Mamas & Papas Tour are nicely padded and remain comfortable throughout a longer journey.
What to watch out for
The biggest downside of the Mamas & Papas Tour is the ride. The wheels are exceptionally rickety and cause the ride to be very loud and bumpy, and the steering to be a bit challenging.
The storage basket is rather small and ineffective, and it’s rendered useless when the seat is fully reclined. This means you will probably end up hanging shopping bags off the handles (which is inadvisable due to the lightweight nature of the Tour buggy).
There are a wide variety of accessories for the Mamas & Papas Tour lightweight buggy but these are separate purchases. The only included accessories are the raincover and the removable hood/canopy.
The lock that holds the hood/canopy in the extended position is quite stiff initially, which could lead to a pinched finger when opening and closing it.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Tour best for?
Urban families after a lightweight for quick commutes.
The Mamas & Papas Tour lightweight buggy is a stylish, compact buggy that’s ideal for urban travel however the rickety ride, ineffective shopping basket and relatively price let the buggy down.
