Pros

  • good absorbancy

Cons

  • poo can leak from them

Huggies Super Dry have impressive absorbency and leak-free qualities, and seem to stay in place with even the heaviest load. They also work well at keeping delicate skin free from redness.

When it comes to disposable nappies, deciding what works for you is a bit like finding the right washing powder. It’s worth trying out a few brands, because like babies, nappies do come in different shapes and sizes.

The pack boasts that the nappies are super-breathable which helps prevent the causes of nappy rash. They also contain Huggies super-flex core for comfort.

The Huggies Super Dry are aimed at the younger baby, the extra dryness is designed to protect their delicate bottoms even for a full night’s sleep. The range produce this style of nappy right up to older babies but you have the option of changing to the Super Fit option once they are on the move.

What we love

The design is attractive with Winnie the Pooh characters and easy to put on, particularly now that my wriggler is keen to be off as soon as his dirty nappy is. Tabs can be repositioned several times without losing their stickiness.

The Huggies absorbency is pretty impressive. On a day out in his number fours (10-16kg, 22-35lbs) he got passed from me, to dad, to grandparents and back with each dodging their nappy changing duty. His nappy weighed a ton and he was toddling like John Wayne but it hadn’t leaked and had stayed on. His bottom was certainly clammy when I whipped the soggy mess off but there was no sign of redness or chafing (his dad was a bit red though when I reminded him that a nappy change once or twice wouldn’t go amiss!).

What to watch out for

The poo element is less successful. Now that we’re on lots of adult food, the gentle mustard seed days are but a memory. That means smelly poo and lots of it – all in one go! With Huggies, we’ve always found that as soon as you hear the telltale grunt or smell the offending article you must whip the nappy away. Otherwise the goo makes a break right up Joshua’s back and has been known to get as far as his neck. It’s a testament to the leg shaping however, as it rarely gets down the legs too.

Huggies Super Dry do hold a lot of liquid if the need arises although if you do have to go a while between nappy changes you can’t expect bottoms to be completely dry. A great solution for the juice fiend toddler but a little unreliable if your child’s food gets ‘processed’ frequently!

Huggies Super Dry are expensive compared to other brands costing £5.98 for 34.

Who is Huggies Super Dry best for?

Mums who want a really comfortable, reliable nappy from a name they can trust.

MadeForMums verdict

Huggies Super Dry nappies are one of the more expensive options compared to supermarket own brands, but do offer good absorbancy for an all night dry bottom. They protect baby’s delicate skin really well and you will rarely, if at all, find redness on the skin from these nappies.
