The Bumpband can extend the life of your non-maternity wardrobe during and post-pregnancy and offer some bump support.

The Bumpband was devised by a mum of twins so it could be worn from the early stages right up until the end of pregnancy and during the post-pregnancy period. I came across it after I gave birth to Michela, but I wish I had bought it earlier on so I could use it as a stylish support for my growing bump and save money on maternity clothes.

However, as any new mum soon finds out, the bump doesn’t go away after giving birth. I looked like I was still six months pregnant and most of my maternity clothes were unsuitable as it was late spring and it was getting warm. And because I breastfed, my breasts were so big all tops rode up.

What we love

The Bumpband was handy to cover up the gap between trousers or skirts and tops. And I could wear my skirts or denims with the top button or top bit of the zip undone. Some of you might wonder if I ever ended up with my denims or skirt down round my ankles, but it didn’t happen as the Bumpband held them up securely!

I liked the fashionable, layered effect the Bumpband provided and the fact that it offered discretion while breastfeeding.

It’s quite stretchy so it can be worn all the way without the need to purchase another one as your tummy grows. It will also bounce back after being washed and tumble-dried and will not become baggy.

Other mums agree that it’s very soft and comfortable – it will never squeeze your bump painfully like control underwear.

What to watch out for

Some mums feel the Bumpband is pricey for what it is, but if you buy it when you get pregnant, the money saved in clothes and the support it provides make it a worthwhile purchase.

It only comes in two sizes and Size 2 goes up to size 18 pre-pregnancy, although the manufacturer states that because of its stretchy material, it will fit sizes 20/22. It only comes in two colours: black and white.
