High-end brand Stokke is known for smart design and high-quality products. The Stokke Trailz prides itself on being an all-terrain stroller, and it’s certainly ideal for parents in the countryside, who are looking for a buggy that can handle bumpier ground. As you might expect from an all-terrain, this is no compact stroller so it’s one for parents with plenty of space.

What were your first impressions of the Stokke Trailz?

The Stokke Trailz came boxed in 3 parts and upon delivery I was quite surprised at how much assembling I had to do to get it up and running. All 4 wheels had to be attached, as well as the seat to the chassis, the hood and the centre bar.

Once finished I was surprised at how large the pushchair was. It’s not easy to store and is quite big and bulky.

I was also quite disappointed in the overall look – for me the plastic finish it has on some parts of the frame looks a bit cheap. For such a hefty price tag, I think a chrome finish might have been a better option.

Something that did impress me was the size of the seat. Stokke certainly doesn’t skimp on the plushness and size of this and my grandson Clay looked very comfortable when seated in the pram.

How does the Stokke Trailz compare to other buggies?

In terms of navigation and steering this is one of the better pushchairs I’ve used and it has the most generous and comfortable seat.

How easy was the Stokke Trailz to push on different surfaces?

The pram pushed really well, and provided a nice, smooth and very comfortable ride. I was able to navigate effortlessly around people and the pushchair handled all the different surfaces with relative ease. Clay was relaxed and enjoyed his time in the stroller immensely.

What do you think of the Stokke Trailz’s seat?

I absolutely loved the seat. It is big, spacious and has lots of padding to offer extra comfort. In fact, Stokke boasts that the Trailz can hold a very impressive weight of up to 33lbs. The other advantage is how high the actual seat is. Clay absolutely loved being able to see the world at that level.

How do you fold the Stokke Trailz?

Not very well, in my opinion. The main problem with the pram is that the seat has to be removed in order for the pram to collapse down. This isn't unusual, but being used to pushchairs you can fold with the set attached, I found it cumbersome and frustrating.

Opening and closing is pretty straightforward but there is no one-hand fold on this stroller.

Does the Stokke Trailz fit into the boot of the car?

Yes, but only with a lot of difficulty. Everything else had to be removed to make it fit and it was very tight.

How lightweight is the Stokke Trailz?

At just over 15kg with the seat, the Stokke Trailz is one of the heaviest pushchairs I’ve used and it’s not very lightweight.

How easy is it to store?

I didn’t find the pram easy to store at all – because it has to be taken apart you will have to find somewhere quite spacious for it to be kept.

Is the frame durable?

Yes, very much so - the frame/chassis are very robust.

What do you think of the handle bar?

The handle bar is lovely – it has a nice soft grip, looks good and is nice to hold.

How comfortable was the Stokke Trailz for your little one?

My grandson Clay really enjoyed his time in the Stokke Trailz. He loved the comfort of the seat, and the fact that he was high up and could see a lot more. He didn’t actually want to get out when we got back to the car!

What do you think of the hood?

The hood is nice and I really like the zip away extension which makes the hood extra long and offers good protection from the elements.

How effective are the Stokke Trailz’s brakes?

The brakes are strong and consist of a single red coloured brake pedal on the back wheel.

How easily can you access the basket and is it big enough to store everything you need?

The basket is a good size – it stores quite a bit of shopping and access to it is easy.

Is it easy to build the Stokke Trailz?

It took about half an hour to fully assemble the pushchair – it was straightforward but the instructions leave a lot to be desired.

They were very basic and it was quite frustrating trying to assemble the stroller.

What would you have liked to have known before you purchased this item?

I would like to have known how big this stroller actually is and that storage could prove to be a problem. It would also be worth knowing that the fold wasn’t very easy.

Where can I buy the Stokke Trailz?

It is available from Stokke and Lesters Nurseryworld.

MadeForMums Verdict:

If you are someone that doesn’t drive, lives in the countryside or spends a lot of time walking with your baby than this is the stroller for you.

It’s strong, durable, has a comfortable seat and large wheels that your child will love. The biggest drawbacks for me are the actual size of the stroller and that it has to be taken apart when closed or placed in a car boot.

The price tag is a little high but you will definitely get your money’s worth out of this pushchair. It’s a nice ride that your baby or toddler will love.
