Dutch buggy maker Bugaboo is known for making some iconic pushchairs, and none more popular than the lightweight stroller, the Bee.

Now in its fourth generation, the new Bugaboo Bee 5 (from £549) is just out in the shops as a follow-up to the hugely popular Bee 3 buggy.

You may be wondering what happened to the Bugaboo Bee 4? We wondered that too, and asked Bugaboo who told us:

"The words Bee Four when partnered have negative connotations in Chinese. To avoid offence Bugaboo have chosen to use Bee 5 instead."

So there you have it.

More like this

Numbering issues aside, the new Bugaboo Bee 5 is set to be quite different to its processor, as it has over 100 new parts. A few new features include new front wheels, which have also been designed in a way to make the wheels more stable and give them a better swivel.

The new padded seat unit has fabric can now be separated from the seat frame, meaning you can take the fabric off and clean it easily.

Bugaboo users will no longer need adaptors to attach accessories like the Bugaboo cup holder, parasol or buggy board.

Style-wise the Bugaboo Bee 5 will feature a leather-look handle bar, which is all the rage for buggies at the moment, and it’ll come in 15 new colours.

As you’d expect, the Bee 5 has maintained most of its key features, like being suitable from birth to 15kg, travel system compatible and a weight of 8.7kg - chassis with wheels and seat (9.2kg with carrycot).

We also expect the customary Bugaboo designer collection, like it’s famed Diesel and Andy Warhol collaborations to be close behind.

We've got more buggies, of course...
