The Easy Fold is a four-wheel buggy that folds down on itself to fit into a travel bag you can sling over your shoulder. It’s received an Australian International Design Award for innovation, quality, value and reliability.
Here in the UK, it’s being distributed by Mookie Toys, though you may recall seeing it under the BabyStyle banner in the past.
What we love
When the Quicksmart Easy Fold Stroller was delivered I was a bit confused. Was there a box missing? How could one box, so small and compact, contain a whole buggy, folded or not? But sure enough, it did!
There’s no assembly required - a quick glance at the instructions shows you how it unfolds and clicks into place. So within seconds of having it out of the box, I had a ready-to-go buggy in my living room. My twin toddlers were so impressed they then spent the next half-hour taking turns to sit in it and delightedly climbing it and pushing it around.
The Quicksmart Easy Fold looks modern and cool – an aluminium frame, grey fabric and a geometric print in the seat. And it comes with a raincover and travel bag to carry it in. Impressive.
Folding the Quicksmart Easy Fold down is super-easy, intuitive and takes seconds. Many lightweight pushchairs use an umbrella-fold system and are tall and thin when collapsed. This buggy folds like a Z-shape into a flat square, like a large laptop bag or backpack. It would fit into the smallest of car boots – or even in a footwell if the boot was full. It’s so clever, I can’t believe no one’s thought of it before.
It’s also unbelieveably light. But does its lightness compromise its roadworthiness? Well, no. It’s easy to push and both my boys seemed comfortable, enjoying the ride when they had a turn. I took it on buses, trains, around the streets of central London and it felt nippy and safe. On longer journeys, it managed to lull its passenger to sleep – something I’ve found impossible with less comfortable lightweight buggies. The 5-point harness is sturdy and easy to adjust. The handlebar is comfortable, if a tad low, but it does have two different positions.
What to watch out for
This stroller’s primary purpose is convenience and portability, so it’s not a plush ride. The seat is basic, the raincover quite flimsy and the shopping basket tiny. It doesn’t come with an apron or footmuff, and the hood is fairly small so you’d need a parasol or shade cover in summer. That said, the absence of ‘super-comfort’ and accessories really doesn’t matter as it’s likely most people would use this as their second holiday or travel buggy
Don’t expect it to cope amazingly with mud or uneven ground - that’s not its USP. It’s not an all-terrain pushchair after all.
Who is the Quicksmart Easy Fold Stroller best for?
Parents, grandparents and childminders who need a practical lightweight for holidays, public transport or keeping in the back of the car.
The Quicksmart Easy Fold Stroller lives up to its name. It’s also light and compact. This well-designed modern classic is the kind of buggy you love so much you want to stop other parents in the street and tell them about it.
