What we love
I’m already familiar with the No-Tray Highchair from jaunts out with my 10-month-old Joe, who is used to dining out with my mummy friends and I at various local cafes and restaurants. So I have seen with my own eyes how durable the highchair is and how light to manoeuvre.
Trying it out at home for the first time, my long-suffering husband assembled the No-Tray Highchair in 30 minutes flat although he did have some grumbles about the ‘incomprehensible’ instructions.
I found it easy to wipe clean and Joe really enjoyed the novelty of being able to sit at the table to eat. The lack of a tray means it’s very quick to get Joe in and out of – a definite plus when he’s particularly hungry or getting fractious after mealtime. Joe is on the small side for his age but is really snug and comfy in this dinky highchair, and the adjustable seatbelt kept him really secure – even when he was straining for dropped rusks and beakers.
The gorgeous wooden finish and simple design are a welcome antidote to the acres of garish plastic we have acquired in the months since Joe’s arrival, so I wasn’t worried about not being able to fold it away when not in use. In fact I thought it was a rather stylish addition to our dining room – especially in bright blue and on-trend black and white.
It was also really refreshing to use a piece of baby kit with no confusing and unnecessary add-on gadgets. This would also be a great option if you have twins or more than one toddler as the chairs stack on top of one another when not in use.
What to watch out for
Although the no tray option was a benefit for me it does mean more mess to clear up on our dining table, which could put off anyone who would rather not submit their grown-up furniture to baby and toddler wear and tear.
As Joe is on the short side, I felt the need to put a cushion behind his back once seated to avoid him banging his head on the back if he has a mealtime tantrum.
Who is the Scandinavian Selection No-Tray Highchair best for?
On-trend parents who’ve had enough of plastic and want their baby to enjoy meals at the table.
The No-Tray Highchair is a gorgeous, durable highchair that lets your baby or toddler eat at the table with you. It’s easy to use and takes the stress out of meal times. While it can’t be folded away, its stackable design means you could easily house two, if you’re a mum of twins or have similar age siblings.
