The best buggies with carrycots suitable for overnight sleeping
Buy a pram with a carrycot your baby can sleep in for occasional overnight stays and you'll save on space and cash
A common question among expecting parents is whether it’s necessary to buy a carrycot for their buggy.
If your pram has a “lie-flat” recline, then you can usually use it for newborns for occasional journeys, however, we do like to recommend a carrycot with a firm, flat bottom.
A truly flat position is much better for a sleeping baby as it allows them to breathe more freely than in a slightly upright position or on a softer base. And in those early months, your little one is likely to sleep a lot – especially when being pushed around in their buggy.
If you’re worried about shelling out on too much baby kit, it is also possible to get buggy carrycots that allow for overnight sleeping.
Some only recommend occasional overnight sleeping – great for short trips, family visits or around the house.
Others can be used as a proper substitute for a Moses basket and everyday sleep, so you will definitely be able to save money on equipment.
We have looked at some of the best carrycots suitable for overnight sleeping – read our round-up below.
1. Silver Cross Coast, £950 (includes carrycot)
Reversible seat: Yes
Age suitable for: From birth
Weight of pushchair with carrycot attached: 12.9kg (carrycot 2.9kg)
The Coast is a fantastic, super-adaptable system from Silver Cross. The double buggy category winner in our MFM Awards this year, the Coast has 27 (!) configurations that allow you to use it as a single or with siblings – with the buggy board you can even effortlessly transport three little ones!
Its carrycot is suitable for overnight sleeping, and can be used with its own foldable carrycot stand (£95), which makes it so easy to use for sleeping – and perfect for nights away.
The carrycot is lined with bamboo material which is super comfortable and helps regulate your baby’s temperature – crucial in those early months. Our reviewer highly rated the Coast for its superior comfort.
Available from: Silver Cross, Pramcentre.co.uk and Samuel Johnston
2. Jané Minnum, from £399 (plus Micro carrycot £190 and £29.95 for Safety Mattress)
Reversible seat: Yes
Age suitable for: From birth
Weight of pushchair with Micro carrycot attached: 10kg approx
The Minnum is a super lightweight stroller from Spanish brand Jané. It has all the features expected from a good city buggy, including reversible seat, all-round suspension, compact fold and adjustable handlebar.
You can even convert it into a sportier version by exchanging the wheels. What makes this buggy stand out, is that you have the option of two carrycots for overnight sleeping.
There is the brilliant Jané Micro foldable carrycot (£190) that is designed for overnight sleep, or you could opt for the new iMatrix iSize infant car seat (from £299 including ISOFIX base).
When used with the chassis, the iMatrix iSize can be adjusted to lie-flat to provide the best sleeping position for your little one – and it’s suitable for overnight too when used with a mattress (£29.95).
The Micro carrycot and car seats are also compatible with other models, such as the Rider and Muum, so if you’re after some interesting options for overnight rest for baby, head to Jané.

3. iCandy Lime, £650 (including carrycot)
Reversible seat: Yes
Age suitable for: Birth to 6 months (carrycot), to 25kg in toddler mode
Weight of pushchair with carrycot attached: 11.55kg (10.2kg in toddler mode)
The new iCandy Lime comes as a great package from the popular buggy brand. It is compact, easy to fold and includes everything you need from birth to toddlerhood (including all adaptors, elevators to lift the seat and carrycot higher, and even an integrated ride-on board for older siblings, up to 20kg).
Best of all, the brand stresses the point that the lush, fleece-lined carrycot is suitable for “permanent overnight sleeping”, beating many of its rivals who only recommend ‘occasional’ overnight sleeping.
So there no need to buy a separate Moses basket for those early months, or you have an extra, second one to position around the house!
Our reviewer also loved the way the Lime handled and its quality, awarding it our top 5 stars.

4. Babyjogger City Mini GT, £359.99, plus Deluxe Pram, £199.99
Reversible seat: No
Age suitable for: From birth to 6 months
Weight of pushchair with carrycot attached: 14.2 kg
The Babyjogger City Mini GT is a hugely popular buggy, beloved for its super fold and all-terrain wheels. It is compact and nimble – a no-fuss, sturdy option for new families.
The City Mini GT’s backrest reclines to near-flat, which the brand says is suitable for newborns.
But we recommend a firm, flat carrycot, and you can now get the Deluxe Pram accessory to go with the City Mini. It has a soft inner lining and a foam mattress and it has two ventilation panels to ensure airflow.
It is suitable for overnight sleeping if not used attached to the buggy, the brand says. The Deluxe Pram is also suitable for lots of the other Babyjogger products, so it’s worth exploring which one might suit you best.

5. Cosatto Giggle 3, £499.95 (includes chassis, seat and carrycot)
Reversible seat: Yes
Age suitable for: From birth to 9kg, toddler seat up to 18kg

Cosatto is a fantastic, fun and funky brand that delights parents and kids with its bright fabrics and functional designs.
Its new Giggle 3 pushchair is great to handle on all terrain and its 3-wheeled design makes it very nippy and streamlined (although the brand has now also released a 4-wheeled version, the Giggle Quad).
The luxury carrycot has very generous space for your little one, a thick, supportive mattress and the zip-in liner is machine washable to keep it fresh.
We absolutely love Cosatto’s baby-friendly prints (six fresh and quirky designs) that really make the brand stand out – together with its good quality, this means the brand is often high on our list of recommendations. The brand’s 4-year guarantee is also great for peace of mind. Also, check out the exclusive Paloma Faith edition!

7. Micralite SmartFold with AirFlow Carrycot, £650
Reversible seat: No
Age suitable for: From birth to 22kg
Weight of pushchair with carrycot attached: 9.5kg (Carrycot 4.5kg)
Compatible with both the SmartFold and the TwoFold double buggy from Micralite, the AirFlow Carrycot is an impressive nest for your little one. Like all the products from Micralite, it is about superior handling, robustness and comfort – geared for the outdoorsy type and all weathers.
Our reviewer said that the SmartFold redefined the meaning of easy handling. With its ‘Air Flo’ system, the carrycot is decked out in superior weatherproof fabrics, which can withstand even the most sustained onslaught of weather.
It features a bamboo liner which is hypoallergenic, has antibacterial properties and wicks moisture away from your baby’s skin.
The sides feature 2 optional vents for increased airflow in warmer weather. There is also a mesh section in the hood – all making it certified for occasional overnight sleeping.

9. BabyStyle Hybrid Edge, (£499 including carrycot)
Reversible seat: Yes
Age suitable for: From birth to 6 months
Weight of pushchair with carrycot attached: 11.3kg for the Edge (3.5kg carrycot only)
The Hybrid is a fantastically versatile product from top brand BabyStyle. It can be configured in lots of different ways, from a compact city version to a nimble double.
It’s great, therefore, that the compatible carrycot is both lightweight and suitable for occasional overnight sleeping. It has a reinforced base to provide the best lie-flat position, and all sorts of useful features including ventilation mesh and bug and weather shields.
Best of all, our reviewers really rated the Hybrid – both the chunkier Edge, which has the double option, and the compact City.
Available from: Amazon, Direct 4 Baby.
10. BabyStyle Egg Stroller, £769 (carrycot £199)
Reversible seat: Yes
Age suitable for: From birth to 9kg
Weight of pushchair with carrycot attached: 13kg
The Egg stroller is super stylish and easy to use. It has a great one-handed fold and is free-standing when folded.
We really love the distinctive look of the Egg, and it can also be converted to a tandem pushchair, which is great for those looking to future proof for a growing family.
The carrycot is just as luxurious as the rest of the travel system and is suitable for occasional overnight sleeping.
