Carluccios
Carluccios on Upper St is excellent for kids, particularly during the day, as the staff really make little ones feel welcome, with crayons and activity packs on the tables, changing facilities and plenty of highchairs. The cakes and coffees are fantastic, and there’s a good kids’ menu too if you want a full meal.
Macondo
Macondo on Camden Passage has a great, Latin-inspired atmosphere, and amazing cakes and brownies. They also do a delicious ‘healthy breakfast’, fresh, south-American style lunches and a big selection of coffees. It’s tucked away round the back of Upper Street, and feels like a real escape from the city hustle and bustle.
Food Lab
Food Lab on Essex Road is half café, half deli. The food is mainly Italian, with pasta, focaccia,l yummy cheeses, breads and salamis, and you can buy it over the counter as well as eating in. Best of all, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.
Brill
If you’re a music fan as well as a mum, then this is the café for you! If you like delicious cakes, bagels and coffee too, then you’ll like it even more. With free wi-fi and very friendly and welcoming staff – and a ‘breastfeeding welcome’ sticker in the window – Brill makes you wonder why there aren’t more cafes like this.
