Go wild with the life-size Lego creations

“The new Billund Resort is a holiday home park sitting right next to Legoland and a family activity complex called Lalandia. It’s also only 10 minutes from Billund airport, which meant we – myself, my husband Phil, 39, Jamie, 4, and Livvie, 14 months – were in our chalet within an hour of landing, making the journey with little ones a lot less stressful.

“The resort only opened last summer and our chalet was immaculately clean and very Scandinavian – like staying in an IKEA showroom. If you know Legoland in the UK, you’ll recognise lots of the rides (Billund was the first ever Legoland site) but there were new ones too, including a lovely sea life ride called Atlantis and water fun for Jamie with the Pirate Splash Battle.

“We went to Legoland for the first part of each day and then spent the afternoon in the gigantic Lalandia water park, where there was a warm baby pool filled with toys, which was perfect for Livvie, and a lazy river, which gently took us round in large rubber rings, which Jamie loved. There were also some pretty wild water chutes and slides for older children (Phil was a big fan!).

“The Lalandia complex had bars and restaurants (as well as bowling and mini golf), but Denmark is expensive, so we made the most of the self-catering facilities in the chalet. Also beware, you get charged when you check out for the electricity and water you’ve used.”

Holiday highlight

“So many! Having Legoland on our doorstep, plus the amazing pools and free Monky Tonky soft play area in Lalandia. I loved the cots on wheels in the water park too, which Livvie could just snooze or play in.”
