Soda bread

Tuck into this yummy soda bread to celebrate St Patrick's Day


You’ll need:


12ozs wholemeal flour

4ozs plain white flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda (bread soda)

1/2 pint buttermilk

What to do:

1 Preheat your oven to 220 ºC/ gas mark 7

2 Sift the white flour, wholemeal flour, salt and bread soda, and mix thouroghly.

3 Make a well in the centre and add the buttermilk.

4 Mix the ingredients into a soft dough.

5 Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough lightly so that it is a couple of inches thick, and in a rectangle shape.

6 Place on a Kerrygold greased baking sheet and bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

7 Spread a smooth rich dollop of Kerrygold butter on your freshly baked bread and enjoy!
