Disney’s latest live-action animation hit the UK's cinema screens in May 2023 and will be available to watch on Disney Plus from Wednesday, 6 September, unofficially known as Disney Plus Day.
The Little Mermaid is a remake of the original 1989 musical animation and follows the story of Ariel (played by pop star Halle Bailey), an adventure-seeking mermaid curious to explore life from above, rather than ‘under the sea’.
During the action-packed film, which runs for just over 2 hours, we watch Ariel fall in love with a human prince, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula and come up against her father King Triton. Fans of the original will be happy to hear that the latest release largely stays true to the classic animation, with a couple of tweaks, including 3 new songs added to the soundtrack.
