  • Your pregnant body

You may experience lower backache and pains in your legs, as your uterus, now the size of a football, is placing increasing pressure on your pelvis and back. Changing position and resting should help, but if not, then gentle exercise or a soak in a warm (not hot) bath is recommended. Aromatherapy oils and bath soaks can help to relieve the pain.

Now find out what you should be doing this week…

  • What should you be doing this week?

You may have to take a special glucose tolerance test this week, if sugar has been found in your urine during routine tests. This is to check whether you have gestational diabetes, which is only developed by a small number of women during their pregnancy. The test consists of being given a sweet drink and then having your blood sugar levels tested at regular intervals. Gestational diabetes is when your body doesn’t produce enough insulin for both your baby and you.
