If you wear contact lenses or glasses, you may find your current prescription is either too strong or weak. This is due to the change in fluid pressure inside your eyes and around your body. Don’t feel you need to visit the optician for a full eye check though, as this is only temporary and your vision will return to normal a few weeks after birth.You also need to be careful when you sneeze, laugh or cough, as your bladder is under pressure from your uterus and baby. This means that if you have the sniffles or laugh a little too hard you may leak a little wee! Pelvic floor exercises can really help strengthen the pelvic muscles and can help prevent this, as well as being a great exercise technique to keep you feeling fit and healthy. Where your baby is taking up so much space now, you may encounter digestive problems. Eating little and often can help this. You may also find it harder to move around and get comfortable as your bump will be getting bigger as your baby begins to put on fat. Your body is working really hard at the moment so make sure you recharge your batteries! It might also be helpful to carry a notebook with you, as you can still be quite forgetful at this stage. Carrying a notebook with you will allow you to jot down reminders as well as keep a diary of what you need to do. You may also want to look into childcare options if you are planning to return to work after your baby's birth. Many nurseries can be booked months in advance so getting your baby’s name on the waiting list could be a good idea and be something less to worry about when you're a busy new mum.
