Your 9 months Pregnancy Week 9 pregnancy symptoms Find out what your body is doing in your 9th week of pregnancy 1 of Ad break Your pregnant body Nasal congestion is a common symptom of pregnancy, as the raised levels of hormones progesterone and oestrogen increase blood flow, which in turn causes the mucus lining of your nose to swell and soften. This also means you may have the occasional nose bleed. Having a blocked nose can be uncomfortable, however try to avoid nasal sprays and medication unless they have been prescribed by your doctor. Instead, try to drink lots of fluids and use a humidifier in your bedroom. Continue to eat lots of fresh fruit as vitamin C helps to strengthen the blood vessels in your nose. Also remember to blow your nose gently. Now find out what you should be doing this week… What should you be doing this week? It’s important to share your feelings at this stage, as you’ll have loads of hormones swilling around, so you’ll be feeling quite emotional and may have quite big mood swings. These can be difficult for you and your partner, so don’t bottle things up. Share how you’re feeling with him so that he can support you rather than feeling he’s at the sharp end of your tongue and emotions. A great way to make use of these emotions is to rent or buy a weepy movie, as letting go with a big blub could clear out some of those powerful feelings and help you vent.
