Pregnant Kate Middleton had the opportunity to meet a different sort of royalty this week – pop royalty! The Duchess of Cambridge attended the Royal Variety Performance with Prince William and was greeted by Harry, Zayn, Louis, Niall and Liam from boyband One Direction.
Dressed in a stunning black lace gown, designed by Diane von Furstenberg, you could see just a hint of Kate’s 16-weeks baby bump. So when One Direction’s Harry Styles got to shake hands with Kate, he congratulated her on her pregnancy – but admitted he could hardly see her bump.
"I said congratulations on the bump," he said after meeting the Duchess, but added that she "didn't look bumpy".
Kate positively glowed – with her thick hair pulled back in a chignon to show off her beaming smile. She’s due to give birth to a little brother or sister for 1-year-old Prince George in April 2015.
She seems to have made a good recovery from the extreme morning sickness hyperemesis gravidarum she'd suffered from earlier in the first trimester of her pregnancy. The debilitating sickness had meant the 32-year-old royal cancelled a string of engagements in September and October – but it seems she’s now back on form.
