So what name have the happy couple chosen for their new arrival?

The Arsenal player revealed it via his Facebook page, posting the following message: "So over the moon to announce the birth of our baby boy Finley this morning.... It's amazing to be mummy & daddy! Love him so much x".

It's been an eventful year for the 25-year-old player. He and childhood sweetheart Mel Slade wed last year at Castello Vincigliata, near Florence, Italy. Then, in January, he needed surgery to the cruciate ligament of his knee following an injury sustained during Arsenal's FA Cup win against Tottenham.

Walcott has previously revealed that the baby given him much-needed strength and inspiration to get through a difficult recovery time. Back in February he said, "The baby is the one thing that keeps me going. It will be a great experience for me, my family and Mel and her family. In some ways it's a silver living, I suppose."

We can't wait to see the first pics of baby Finley, and hope it won't be long before his daddy is back in action!
