Your baby-to-be is about the size of a poppy seed, and is changing shape again this week. Find out how your baby is developing... How is your baby growing? From a disc-like shape, your embryo is becoming more cylindrical with the development of a head and a tail, a bit like a tiny shrimp. It may sound strange, but it's all part of your baby's development. In each body cell of your embryo there are 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs, with one of each pair inherited from each parent. These are the genetic building blocks for your baby's development and will determine many things, including eye and hair colour and tendency for body shape.
