Why we love it
In the words of my 5-year-old son, Jacob, “It’s super comfortable.” Having endured a far less luxurious and padded seat up until now, he was overjoyed at the large, soft embrace of the Bebecar Multibob SPP. Side protection on the headrest, backrest and seat mean that your child is virtually wrapped up in the seat, though mesh ventilation on the side protection wings mean it’s not to claustrophobic or hot.
Because you adjust the height, backrest and seat position, you can ensure that your child is sitting comfortably even as they grow up, which means this seat really should last until they are old enough and tall enough for an adult seat.
Fitting the Multibob SPP is easy enough, the seat is detachable, but it’s easy to connect it up out of the box. Once you have done that just place it on the adult car seat, ensure the back is flat against the seat (which may mean removing the head rest from the main car seat, particularly as your child gets taller) and guides ensure that the seat belt sits correctly across your child’s body.
The seat is wide and generously padded making it the most comfortable car seat my sons have tried out. In fact they fought over who got to sit in it, so it clearly appealed to my two fussy passengers.
What to watch out for
Because the seat and side protection wings are so wide I found it hard to click the seat belt closed around the Multibob SPP as the overhang from the seat obscured the connection. That was in a Renault Grand Espace, so I imagine it would be even trickier in a smaller car.
The Bebecar Multibob SPP width would also rule it out if you wanted to fit three car seats across your back seat, so this is not a great choice for larger families.
Although my boys did like the comfort of this seat, they were disappointed that it didn’t have cup holders, which while not essential are really useful to hold drinks, toys and snacks on long car journeys.
Last, but far from least, is the price. At £120 the Multibob is very expensive and I’m not sure the extra comfort it provides is really worth the price.
Who is the Bebecar Multibob SPP best for?
Smaller, comfort loving families with a large car and a big budget.
The bulky, but comfy, Bebecar Multibob SPP is best suited for those with larger cars and smaller families who are happy to spend a little more. It is comfortable and easy to adjust to fit your growing child, but that may not justify the price for some families.
