The seat is held in place in a forward-facing car seat with the 3-point car belt. It’s pretty easy to strap it in place - your car seat belt threads through a red loop and under a clip behind the seat, then into the buckle. Fortunately, there is plenty of space to reach through to do so. The seat feels relatively secure once in place, but not as firm as some of the car seats that also have seat belt tensioners (as well as clips) for extra rigidity. Saying that – I don’t feel that it’s going anywhere! Check out the car seat selector on the Graco website that enables you to check in advance if the Logico M will fit your car and specifically which seats within the car it can be used in.
Your baby or toddler is held in place with a 5-point safety harness, which has hooks that are easy to align and slot into place. The harness is made with anti-slip material to absorb energy in the event of an accident. It’s also easy to adjust the tension of the harness with the groin strap. The height of the harness can be altered, but it’s a bit fiddly to do so behind the seat. The great news is there are five recline positions for your sleeping child.
What we love
Peter does look very snug and protected in this car seat – there certainly seems to be a considerable amount of side protection. He also enjoys being up high and being able to see out of the window. When strapping your wriggling toddler in, it’s really easy to piece together the clips on the harness and slot them into the catch – the pieces don’t seem to come apart even when your little one is writhing! Even Granny with her stiff hands managed this one. There is also a good audible click to let you know you have closed it properly.
The recline handle is very ergonomic and it’s easy to lift and move the chair back - even when your baby or toddler is asleep. It’s also unusual to have as many as five recline positions.
I like the fact that a removable cushioning head-support is also included as standard with this car seat for the younger babies.
The Graco Logico M has covers that are removable and machine washable at a cold temperature, which is vital for all toddlers!
What to watch out for
This car seat does look very big in my back seat, but that’s probably owing to all the side protection. It is also quite heavy (9.5kg), which is important to consider if you want to move it frequently between cars.
When adjusting the harness height, it’s a shame that you have to re-thread it through the back, as it’s possible to do this from the front on other models.
When I look at Peter in the seat, he seems to be tilted back slightly even though the recline is not selected and the Graco seat back is properly against the rear of my car seat – however he doesn’t seem to mind. It does mean though that he can kick the seat in front (we have a VW Golf).
My main concern is the lack of seatbelt tensioner behind the seat as I like this feature on other car seat models – however, Graco have instead opted for a slightly different seatbelt feeding mechanism.
Who is the Graco Logico M best for?
Parents who wants to invest in an easy-to-fit, tough, robust car seat with significant side protection.
Overall, the Graco Logico M is fairly priced for the amount of safety and comfort features included. There’s considerable padding and side protection with very easy to use, ergonomic harness fastenings and recline lever. However, it’s quite big and heavy if you’re looking for something to move frequently between vehicles.
