This funky bottle will stimulate your older baby, and features an anti-colic teat that really works
The mOmma by TOMY Feeding Bottle is a quirkily designed bottle that stands out from the crowd and could prove a hit with colic prone newborns and older babies alike.
The mOmma range, released by TOMY, is centred on developmental feeding products, such as bottles, cups and weaning kit. The mOmma Feeding Bottle is a distinctive round-shaped bottle that’s BPA-free and dishwasher safe. Not only is its shape unique, it comes in a dazzling bright orange or acid green, which TOMY says will stimulate babies and that parents will either love or hate.
With anti-colic teat and a non-spill cover, the mOmma Feeding Bottle’s ergonomically pleasing shape is designed to appeal to babies because it’s easy for small hands to grip. It also includes a rocking base, which stops it from falling over and prevents the teat from coming into contact with unhygienic surfaces. It also provides amusement for older babies who can watch the bottle right itself when they swipe it.
The 250ml mOmma by TOMY Feeding Bottle is available in a single pack for £6.49 or twin pack for £11.99.
What we love
A lot of the mOmma Feeding Bottle’s features are lost on baby Joe - at 8 weeks he’s still a little too young to appreciate the funky design and the ingenious way it wobbles without falling over. I enjoyed the eye catching shape and look forward to seeing how Joe responds to the bottle as he gets bigger.
For now, the non-colic teat is one of the best we’ve tried. Its neat and compact shape seemed to suit Joe, who took in less air and dribbled less milk than with other bigger teats we’ve used. It was quick and easy to assemble, fitting easily in my usual microwave steriliser, and the measurements on the side of the bottle stand out well in bright orange.
The non-spill lid is straightforward to remove with one hand – always a bonus!
It’s also worth mentioning that the mOmma Feeding Bottle works with Philips AVENT teats, which will come in handy in terms of ease of finding replacements.
What to watch out for
Costs could add up if you feel the need to invest in the brand’s specially shaped bottle cleaner (another £4.99) and insulated bottle cover (another £5.99). I found my normal shaped bottlebrush was perfectly adequate, but the bottle wouldn’t fit in my conventional bottle bag.
Personally I found the acid green on the garish side and would prefer a more muted colour.
