With longer days and the promise of sunnier skies, spring and summer bring plenty to love – but for many families, they also mean a rise in seasonal sniffles. If hay fever’s on your radar, you’ve probably heard of NatPat’s Breathe Easy vapour stickers, which claim to offer natural relief from allergy symptoms using eucalyptus, menthol and essential oils. But do they actually work?

We handed them over to our parent testers to find out if this wearable solution really can help kids breathe easier through the pollen-filled months.

What is NatPat, and how does it work?

NatPat make a range of natural wellness stickers designed to do everything from boost focus, help with sleep, and, of course, ease the symptoms of seasonal allergies.

Izzah NatPat Test

Each sticker works by using a blend of 100% natural essential oils and can be stuck to clothing instead of skin, making them convenient and easy to use.

Alongside the Breathe Easy stickers, NatPat also offer an Outdoor Protection collection, which includes their famous Mosquito patches as well as their UV stickers. The NatPat Wellness and Cognitive collection includes their Zen, Focus and Bedtime stickers.

Patches are non-toxic, DEET-free and safe for babies and kids.

How long do NatPat stickers last?

How long NatPat stickers last will depend on which patch you are using. The Breathe Easy patches last for up to 6 hours, for example, while they suggest replacing the Mosquito patches every 8 hours.

The UV patches work slightly differently as they are designed to tell you when to reapply sun cream, changing colour when your child needs a top-up.

What age is NatPat suitable for?

Most of NatPat's range is suitable for babies (0+), with a few products like their mosquito patches having both adult and child variants.

Let’s see what our Top Testers Club made of NatPat

We sent out NatPat Breathe Easy patches to 10 parents who each put them to the test with their children. Here's what they had to say.

They mostly worked

Daisy NatPat Test

Parent tester Izzah, who tested the StuffyPatches with their children Kaeden and Dominic, pointed out how happy her sons were when using the stickers. "Since my 4-year-old is non-verbal and my 1-year-old hasn't started talking yet," she said, "both of them were incredibly happy after I put the breath easy stickers on them. Their facial expressions clearly showed that they enjoyed the scent and that the stickers were working well for both of them."

"Percy’s sleep was less disturbed than usual thanks to the stickers, and he didn’t wake up congested like he usually does," added parent tester Daisy, who tested the patches with her 3-year-old son Percy. "The website says that the patches last 8 hours, and I would say this is accurate."

They didn't work for everyone, however, with parent tester Eloise saying, despite how much her daughter loved them, she did have trouble with their efficacy. She added, "NATPAT's stickers did not do as much as we expected to resolve her congestion and hay fever-related symptoms. Because of this, we had to use more traditional methods of antihistamines to manage her symptoms."

They liked how easy they were to use

Fahima NatPat Test

"They are fun and very easy to use and are much more portable and daytime-friendly than plug-ins or things that also offer congestion relief, that are usually designed for nighttime," noted parent tester Alex, who tested the patches with his daughters daughters Thea and Arwen, aged 3.

Parent tester Fahima, who used the patches with her son Yusuf, said, "The stickers were easy to peel and affix. My son absolutely hates plasters, so I had to explain to him that it was like a sticker he gets from school and would help him at night and would not hurt him when I peeled it off."

And she wasn't the only one; parent tester Evie and her daughter Aurora were also impressed. "I loved them," she said. "They leave no residue when on the clothes, which is a big win for me."

They loved the smell

Eloise NatPat Test

Parent tester Eloise, who tested the Breathe Easy stickers with her daughter Violet, said, "My daughter loves the NATPAT stickers and sees them as a little treat every day. She loved the smell of them as it isn't strong to those around her."

Child-tester Finnlea came to a similar conclusion, saying, "Wow! Smells good, let’s stick one on together!" His mum Stephanie added, "The smell was lovely, not as potent as some decongestant remedies we’ve tried previously and felt more natural as it smells more like herbs and essential oils than that normal in-your-face menthol smell you normally get!"

"They had a lovely smell which helped open his airways and the colourful designs were great to give Ari the independence and options to choose," added parent tester Sabrina, who tested them with her son Ari, aged 2 years. "He was excited to test them."

Child-testers loved the designs and choosing which one to wear

Alex

Eloise's daughter Violet was a particular fan of the fun and colourful designs, saying, "I love wearing my stickers, they always match my outfits and look special!"

And Violet wasn't the only tester who loved the way they looked.

Parent tester Alex's daughters, Thea and Arwen, both enjoyed picking out which ones to wear. "The girls loved choosing one in the morning or bedtime," Alex said. "It very quickly and easily became part of our routine, and the girls looked forward to choosing them."

Percy, aged 3, also said that he preferred using the stickers to his standard essential oils defuser, saying, "I really like the stickers, they are fun and colourful and made me sleep better because my nose wasn’t drippy!"
