Alton Towers has rides for a range of ages, including very little kids. Before you even factor in rollercoasters there are a ton of rides and areas without age restrictions, including the Skyride, Andy's Adventures Dinosaur Dig and the famous CBeebies Land.

After that, there are 10+ rollercoasters for children just over 90cm – typically the height of children aged 2-3 years – including Cuckoo Cars Driving School, Gangsta Granny the Ride and Heave Ho.

The next step up is rides for children between 110 and 130cm – typically for kids aged 5-10 – which are a little bit faster but tend to have smaller drops and swings than the big rollercoasters, some of these are: Spinball Whizzer, Marauders Mayhem and Th13teen.

Then there are the biggest rides for older kids, which include Nemesis Sub-Terra, Oblivion and Rita, and feature extreme drops, loops, spins and more. In short, there's something for kids of all ages.

Can children go on the Smiler?

Children are not allowed on the Smiler unless they are over 140cm tall – on average that's for children aged between 9 and 10.

Is Alton Towers suitable for toddlers?

Yes. Alton Towers has more than enough attractions and areas designed to keep Toddlers entertained. To start, there's CBeebies Land which has a range of pre-school rides and playgrounds as well as regular appearances from your favourite CBeebies characters.

There are also several other areas to explore freely including the Something Special Sensory Garden and the Sharkbait Reef aquarium, not to mention regular live shows throughout the day from family favourites like Bluey, Hey Duggee and the Teletubbies, all of which are suitable for little eyes and ears.
