New parents reveal top post-birth cravings — and it’s not coffee!
From doorstep nappies to chocolate fixes, Rascals’ new survey reveals what UK parents really crave in those first few weeks.

New parents across the UK are craving far more than sleep — with most saying they’d love a morning delivery of nappies, breakfast items and even chocolate to help them through the early days of parenthood.
A new survey by baby brand Rascals has revealed what British mums and dads really want during the fourth trimester — those first intense months after a baby’s arrival — and it’s clear that time, support and little comforts top the list.
The biggest wish? More time — and doorstep help
According to the survey more than three quarters (78%) of new parents said they found it challenging to stay on top of chores and grocery shopping in their baby’s first three months. Unsurprisingly, 81% said they turned to home delivery services more than ever before.
Nearly half of parents (48%) said they’d most appreciate having nappies delivered to their door early in the morning — but breakfast items were the runaway favourite, chosen by 74% of parents. Tea and coffee came in at 37%, showing that for many, caffeine isn’t quite enough to get through the newborn fog.
Will Harvey, Marketing Director (and dad of two) at Rascals, said: “Here at Rascals – we wanted to show that we get it and want to go the extra mile. The fourth trimester is truly a whole new world to get used to, and even basics like getting in milk and toilet paper might be tricky when adjusting to a new routine.”
Grandparents are still the biggest lifeline
When it comes to emotional and practical support, more than half of new parents (55%) said their own parents were the ones who helped them most in the early weeks.
Those in York were most reliant on grandparents (75%), followed by Nottingham and Liverpool (both 66%). London and Manchester rounded out the top 10, with 57% of parents in each city saying they turned to grandparents the most.
It’s a reminder that while modern conveniences are helping parents juggle life, family support and creating "a village" remains at the heart of those first few months.
Chocolate beats coffee for top parent craving
Forget the caffeine kick — the Rascals research found that chocolate was the number one daily treat for new parents, chosen by 66% of respondents. Coffee came in second at 37%, proving that sometimes, a sweet pick-me-up trumps a strong brew.
Rascals’ findings also revealed that 94% of parents said they appreciated “the little wins” in the first few months — whether that’s five minutes to shower, finishing a meal while it’s still warm, or simply getting through the day in one piece.
Rascals launches local Parents Hotline to deliver essentials
In response to the survey, Rascals is launching a Parents Hotline — a 24-hour WhatsApp service designed to help new mums and dads in Birmingham get essential items like nappies, wipes and baby products delivered straight to their door.
From 22–23 October, the first 30 parents to sign up will receive a free gift box including Rascals Nappies, Rascals Premium Sensitive Wipes, and a selection of Sainsbury’s Little Ones products, plus a £20 allowance for other requested goods — from coffee to face masks.
Parents who miss out on the full box will still receive a complimentary pack of Rascals nappies delivered to their doorstep.
“The Parents Hotline is a show of solidarity,” said Harvey. “We’re delighted to be offering this service to parents in Birmingham.”
