Opening on Saturday March 28 at CBeebies Land, Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is a junior coaster designed especially for pre-schoolers and young families. And thanks to brand-new drone footage filmed from a “kiddo-eye-view”, parents can now see exactly what little ones can expect.

It marks the first Bluey coaster of its kind anywhere in the world, and it’s set to be one of the most talked-about family attractions of the spring.

What is Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!?

Inspired by the fan-favourite Bluey episode Here Come the Grannies, the ride brings Janet and Rita’s chaotic, loveable energy to life.

In the episode, Bluey and Bingo dress up as mischievous grannies, and the new coaster captures that same playful spirit. The drone footage shows the Grannies’ Car setting off from the station, giving families a glimpse of Janet and Rita’s unforgettable “driving”.

The track winds through recreations of Bluey’s world, including the Heeler family’s iconic home, which will also act as a photo opportunity for fans. From there, the ride twists and turns through Bluey’s backyard in a gentle but exciting layout tailored to younger children.

Crucially for parents of thrill-curious pre-schoolers, the coaster has been specifically designed with little riders in mind, offering just the right balance of fun and reassurance.

A ride designed from a child’s perspective

What makes this launch particularly special is the way it has been revealed. The newly released drone footage captures the attraction from a child’s eye line, helping families see the experience as their little ones will.

Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, said: “It’s exciting to be able to give eager fans and families an official first-look at our newest attraction Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! this spring at Alton Towers Resort.

“This first glimpse of the ride shows what promises to be an exciting experience for the whole family - from little ones to grandparents - which bring the limitless energy of Bluey to life.”

It is that whole-family appeal that makes CBeebies Land such a draw for parents of younger children, especially those planning a first theme park trip.

Natasha Spence, Events Director, Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, added: “We know our Bluey fans can barely contain their excitement for the new ride, and this drone footage lets us see exactly why - showcasing Bluey’s first-ever coaster at CBeebies Land at Alton Towers Resort as a child experiences it.”

More Bluey magic at CBeebies Land

The new coaster builds on the growing Bluey offering at Alton Towers Resort. Families visiting CBeebies Land can already enjoy:

  • Meet-and-greet opportunities with Bluey, Bingo, Mum Chilli and Dad Bandit
  • The live Bluey experience as part of Big Fun Showtime
  • Bluey-themed hotel rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel

Alongside the new ride, the resort has also announced plans to introduce additional Bluey-themed hotel rooms, giving families even more chances to turn their visit into a full Bluey sleepover.

For many millennial parents who have watched more than their fair share of Bluey episodes, this makes Alton Towers an increasingly tempting short break option, especially for children in the pre-school sweet spot.

When does the Bluey ride open?

Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! officially opens to guests on Saturday March 28 at CBeebies Land, Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire.

Families can book day tickets or turn their visit into a short break by staying at the Alton Towers Hotel or the CBeebies Land Hotel, where themed rooms and live entertainment are all part of the experience.

With the Easter holidays just around the corner, it is likely to be a popular addition for families planning spring days out. If you have a Bluey superfan at home who knows their Janet from their Rita, this could be one very excited car journey there and back.
