A strange case of health and safety regulations has been discovered by a granddad who bought a card with the slogan, ‘2 today’ for his granddaughter, only to find it wasn’t suitable for children under 3 years.
Steve Lock bought the card, which included a sheet of small stickers inside, for his granddaughter, Mary Jane Levick. He was amazed to see the warning ‘not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts’ printed on the back, reports the Metro.
Mary Jane’s mum, Helen Levick from North Devon couldn’t believe her eyes when Steve showed her the card. “If it’s dangerous they shouldn’t sell it for 2-year-olds and if it’s not dangerous why put a warning on?” said mum, Helen.
But Barry Hartog from Clinton Cards defended the warning on the card, and said, “A card is for display, not a toy. It is suitable to be given to a 2-year-old to be displayed on a mantelpiece but it is not suitable for a 2-year-old to play with.”
