Macabre discovery in grave after baby lies exposed
Police in New Zealand were shocked to discover a child’s doll in a coffin instead of a baby, after a woman lied about being pregnant.
Afraid to confess to her partner that she’d invented her pregnancy, the unnamed 33-year-old woman lied that the baby had died and then staged her fake baby’s funeral.
Police were granted permission to exhume the coffin which has been buried in Auckland’s Mangere Lawn Cemetry after suspicions arose when no birth, doctors or death certificate could be found. When they did so, a child’s doll was found wrapped in a blanket.
The mum has confessed to burying the fake baby and was issued with a police warning.
