In an interview promoting his new film Beginners, Ewan McGregor unwittingly revealed that he and his wife, Eve Mavrakis, have adopted a baby girl.

The comment that gave the game away came when Ewan told The New York Post about how he juggles family and work life. “My wife and four girls – 15, two 9-year-olds and a baby of four months – often come with me if it’s a holiday or my locations and their schedules allow. Sometimes we uproot them and put them in another school.”

The Moulin Rouge actor and his production designer wife have two biological daughters, Clara, 15, and Esther, 9, as well as Jamiyan, 9, who they adopted from Mongolia in 2006. No details are known yet about the latest addition to the McGregor clan, other than she is a four-month-old girl.

The lucky little girl appears to have been adopted into a very caring and hands-on family. In an interview earlier this year Ewan talked about the importance of spending time with children and giving them your full attention no matter how busy you are.

“I recognise it can be boring to play with young children – to tell a story over and over again, let’s say – but the secret is being there. If you’ve made a decision to play with your children, then play with them. Don’t be looking through papers on your desk or sneaking off to the computer. Turn off your BlackBerry. Lose yourself in their world. Even if you do it for a short time, it will mean a lot to you and to them.”
