He may appear to have it all, but even musician Gavin Rossdale has first hand experience of the difficulties of juggling his career and parenthood.
In an interview with US magazine Gavin reveals how he and Gwen Stefani make time for each other, their children and their careers. “We muddle through it,” he says. Gavin and Gwen married in 2002 and are parents to Kingston, 5 and Zuma, 3.
The 45-year-old rocker, who has recently been reunited with his band Bush after a 10-year break, recognises that work and family is sometimes a balancing act. “I accept that those are the sacrifices you make and it’s inevitable that anyone who has kids makes sacrifices.”
Gavin revealed who he thinks the boys take after. “You want them to take after you when they do things well. When they do things bad you wanna blame the other genes, but really they’re so phenomenally their own people. That’s the most incredible part of it, that you can see elements of both of us in both of them.”
He also gave an insight into how he and Gwen manage to juggle their busy schedules with family time. “It’s just about the communication and also just the space. The one thing that’s always been so good for us is to understand each other’s timetables and commitments and responsibilities,” he says.
It’s great to see that Gavin seems completely happy with the life that he shares with Gwen and their sons. “I’m so lucky,” he said. “What I can tell you is I married up.”
