Marathon runner shares 'real and raw' stretchmark pics to empower mums
Stephanie Rothstein admits she's 'partly self conscious' but is determined to share her story
A professional marathon runner is sharing "real and raw" photos of her post-baby body to show mums they have nothing to be ashamed of.
Stephanie Rothstein Bruce (pictured when pregnant above) has 2 sons who are 21 months and 6 months old – she's also training for the Olympics – to run the 10,000m race as part of Team USA.
We're already impressed.
But now the mum-of-2 has completely won us over with a series of honest and inspiring Instagram posts about how she feels about her post-baby body.
Her most recent post reads: "When I look down I see stretch marks that are here to stay, ab muscles that need continued strengthening, legs that are powerful, and feet that are ready to fly! #trackseason #timetofly #flystyle"
Stephanie's second son is now 6 months old – but just 6 weeks after giving birth she posted the following photo.
She commented: "Sorry to those who find this pic gross but this s**t is #keepitreal. I have a very bad case of diastasis recti and stretch marks from 2 babies born 15 months apart.
"I am partly self conscious but you'll still see me rocking my stomach in my sports bra and race kit when my body is ready."
Stephanie has Diastasis Recti – where your left and right tummy muscles separate.
7 weeks after giving birth she commented: "I can stick 3 fingers in between my 2 ab walls. But it's not about ascetics it's about functionality. Here you go for those who have been curious and asked about my Diastasis Recti."
