New mum January Jones reveals how Mad Men saved her from “baby world”
New mum January credits returning to the Mad Men set just weeks after giving birth for keeping her feet on the ground
January Jones has revealed her rapid return to the set of Mad Men was helpful for her as a new mum.
The 34-year-old actress and mum to 6-month-old Xander filmed up until she was eight months pregnant and returned to the 1960s Man Men set just 6 weeks after giving birth.
January, who plays Betty Draper, told The Daily, “It was a challenging season for me, but I think that having work was really helpful… I just didn’t lose myself into baby world,” January also revealed that when she told Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, he rose to the storyline challenge.
“I called him…and said, ‘I’m pregnant, so by the time that we start shooting, I’m going to be really pregnant, so, you know, have fun with that, basically’,” said January. “He was silent for a little bit, but I think he works really well with a challenge because I love what he decided to do.”
We’ll finally find out how the actress’ pregnancy affects her Mad Men alter ego Betty, as the new series begins this Tuesday.
