For many mums, Pippeta became a go-to name for affordable, wearable breast pumps that actually delivered on performance. Now, the award-winning UK brand has announced it is closing after six years in business.

The news was shared in an emotional statement from founder Aimee Cestrone, who described the decision as “the hardest” of her life.

Pippeta confirms it has “come to an end”

In a statement shared on the brand’s website, Aimee said: “It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I share the news that, after six years of dedication, passion, and relentless hard work, Pippeta has come to an end. This is not something I ever imagined having to say, and the heartbreak of letting go of something I have poured my everything into is truly beyond words.”

The Sheffield-based brand launched with a focus on hands-free breast pumps designed to slip discreetly into a nursing bra, alongside milk storage, nip cups and weaning bundles. ”

What led to the closure?

In her statement, Aimee explained that the business faced significant challenges in 2024.

“In 2024, Pippeta was left in a devastating position following a manufacturer failing to honour key agreements around new product development. The impact of this was catastrophic, resulting in lost contracts and a significant financial setback that we fought tirelessly to recover from."

For over a year, I explored every possible avenue to try and save the brand, but ultimately, the weight of the situation became impossible to overcome.

She added that there were additional pressures behind the scenes.

“There were also further challenges behind the scenes that have contributed to this outcome. Decisions and guidance that were meant to support the business instead placed additional strain on our finances, and it became increasingly difficult to stabilise. I won’t go into detail, but these experiences have been incredibly tough and have taught me some very hard lessons.”

A brand loved by parents

Pippeta built a loyal following among UK parents looking for a more affordable alternative to premium wearable pumps.

The Pippeta LED Wearable Hands Free Breast Pump received a 4.7 out of 5 star rating from MadeForMums, with our parent tester praising its milk output, comfort and value for money.

In our guide to the best breast pumps, the Pippeta Compact Breast Pump, £69.99, was named Best Budget Wearable Electric Breast Pump and previously won Gold for Best Breast Pump under £150 at the MadeForMums Tech Awards 2025.

Its pumps were designed with features such as anti-backflow protection and multiple suction settings, helping many mums express at home or on the go.

“Being not only a founder, but also a mum”

In her closing words, Aimee reflected on the personal impact of the decision.

“Being not only a founder, but also a mum, this journey has always meant so much more to me than just building a business. Pippeta has been part of so many family journeys, and supporting mums putting their first has always been at the heart of everything I’ve done. But there comes a point where you have to pause and take care of yourself. For the sake of my own health, and for my family, I have had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life.”

She also acknowledged the wider challenges facing independent brands.

“Sadly, my story is not unique. So many independent, female-led businesses face similar struggles, and it is devastating how often trust is broken in the process. Sharing this publicly makes it even harder, but I have always built Pippeta on honesty and transparency through both the highs, and what right now feels like a lot of lows.”

What happens next?

Aimee ended her message with thanks to customers and supporters.

“Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who has supported Pippeta over the years, for trusting us, for being part of the journey, and for believing in the brand. Your support has meant everything. While this chapter is closing, I will carry forward the lessons, the resilience, and the incredible community into whatever comes next.”

For parents who already own a Pippeta pump, it is worth keeping an eye on official brand channels for any updates regarding customer support or spare parts.

The closure marks the end of a brand that, for many UK mums, helped make hands-free pumping more accessible and affordable.
