Seeing your unborn baby alive and healthy during a scan is a wonderful moment for parents. Suddenly, it all feels real. And Simon Cowell was just as excited as most when he saw his baby “moving around” during a scan.
“I went to see a scan today and it is just surreal. You see this thing, which is now alive moving around. So I am incredibly happy,” he told The Times.
Simon, 53, admitted that the pregnancy took him by surprise. “Once I heard the news about the baby, it was a little bit of a shock but now I’m used to it, and then I became incredibly paternal and protective and I feel very attached to the baby already,” he told the MailOnline.
“The fact that it can happen at this time in my life is fantastic, maybe a miracle,” he said. “I’m proud to be a dad. It’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but now I know I feel good about it.
“Things are changing in my life right now, for the better. She [Lauren]’s a very special girl,”
Though separated, Lauren, 36, was still married when the pregnancy story broke. She’s now reached an amicable divorce settlement and agreed custody of her 7-year-old son with her husband of 10 years.
The reason for her divorce was cited as adultery, with Simon implicated as “co-respondent” in the court papers.
The X Factor judge is famous for being strict. When asked whether he would change after the baby is born, he told The Times: “I can assure you, I won’t go too soft.”
