Helen Skelton has revealed a rather old-fashioned name for her firstborn. The former Blue Peter presenter gave birth to her son with rugby player husband Richie Myler on June 19. And now the couple have revealed they've named their firstborn... Ernie.

We love the old-fashioned name but can't help but wonder which half of a famous comedy duo Helen's referencing: Ernie Wise from Morecambe And Wise or Bert and Ernie from US children's show Sesame Street?

But whatever the name inspiration, the 32-year-old can't stop gushing about how much she's loving being a mum. "It's the best thing I’ve ever done," she told Hello! magazine. "I didn’t think I would love it as much as I do. It's ten times better than I expected.

"I feel like I've been on happy pills ever since Ernie was born. When my friends with babies used to tell me how they spent their days, I couldn’t imagine liking it. But it's brill!"

Helen and baby Ernie are about to uproot and move to to Perpignan in southern France in November, as Super League rugby player Richie, 25, has signed a contract to play with Catalans Dragons. "This is our next adventure," says Helen. "We’re both taking French lessons. It's exciting, but also a bit weird to be moving to a different country with another language."

Wonder how the French will pronounce Ernie..!
