Tips from the expert: Inbaal Honigman on the power of jewel names
Celebrity psychic and astrologer Inbaal Honigman believes jewel-inspired names are far more than pretty or trendy — they hold deep spiritual resonance and timeless symbolism.
“All names carry a spiritual weight to them,” she explained to Diamonds Factory Ireland. “The name Emerald may simply mean ‘green gem’, but green itself carries a wealth of meaning. It represents nature, growth and success. It’s also the colour of the heart chakra, and for some, the colour of money. A jewel name can give a baby everlasting blessings, because jewels are so long-lasting.”
And while some parents might not follow spiritual traditions, Inbaal believes gemstone names can still offer their own kind of magic: “Naming a child after anything valuable links them with that value. Even if you’re not spiritually inclined, simply liking the sound, meaning or history of a jewel name is enough. Spiritual luck and protection come included.”
However, she does advise taking time to understand the full story behind a name. “I’d encourage parents to look into the history of a gemstone before bestowing it on a child. Take ‘Amethyst’ — it means ‘not drunk’ and is traditionally associated with clarity and common sense. So you might want to consider whether a name linked to drunkenness is right for your little one!”
