In a nutshell

A pretty bra that's great for special occasions, but not particularly practical for everyday wear.

Pros

  • Pretty design, comfortable to wear due to cotton lining and padded straps, one-handed cup opening

Cons

  • Padded cups get in the way when feeding, drop cup gets caught up in frame, breast pads slip out

The Anita Rose Illusion Nursing Bra, with its pretty fabric and padded cups, goes some way to making you feel like your pre-pregnancy self. It may not be practical enough for everyday use, but it’d work well as a feel-good bra for occasional wear.

Made from a delicate pink rose printed fabric with black trim, the Anita Rose Illusion Nursing Bra wouldn’t look out of place in your pre-baby wardrobe. The frame and back of the bra are made from stretch microfibre, with foam padded straps for comfort. Anita’s patented KwikKlip cup release clips make it easy to open and close the cups with one hand, and there are four rows of hook and eye fasteners for a comfortable fit.

The Anita Rose Illusion Nursing Bra comes in sizes from 32-42 B-E, and matching briefs are available if you like your undies to co-ordinate.

What we love

Six weeks after giving birth, I’m getting fed up with my functional breastfeeding wardrobe of loose tops and sensible bras, so it’s a pleasure to wear pretty underwear for a change. I love the attractive print of the Anita Rose Illusion Nursing Bra and the little bow on the front. Being able to wear matching knickers rather than practical Bridget Jones pants is an added bonus.

The cups of the bra are easy to open when my baby Katie needs feeding, and because they’re lined with seam-free cotton, the bra feels comfortable to wear, even on days when my nipples feel tender.

The foam lined straps add to the comfort, and would be a particular asset to well endowed mums.

What to watch out for

Sadly, this bra lets me down when it comes to practicality. The padded cups make my boobs look weirdly out of proportion, and tend to pop up when I’m feeding and get in Katie’s way.

I struggle with closing the cups after breastfeeding. Only the front of the cup drops down, leaving a triangular shaped frame of fabric around your breast, and I often get the drop cup caught up in the frame when I try to close it.

My breast pads keep slipping out of the gap between the cup and the frame, too.

Who is the Anita Rose Illusion Nursing Bra best for?

Fashion-conscious breastfeeding mums who like to feel co-ordinated.

MadeForMums verdict

The Anita Rose Illusion Nursing Bra is a pretty alternative to your bog standard nursing bra. It’s not the most practical option for everyday wear, but for special occasions, it’ll make you feel a little less like a milk machine and more like your pre-baby self.
