The Hauck Turnaround 3 in 1 Highchair is a basic highchair that has a useful swivel feature and converts into a booster seat and then a step. It’ good value for money and will last for years but it’s big, bulky and frustrating to put together.
The Turnaround 3 in 1, from German company Hauck, is super versatile and can be used in one of its three forms until your child is around 15kg. The simple design means that it doesn’t fold and there’s only one seat height and one seat position. But it does have a 360-degree swivel feature, removable play and food tray, 5-point harness and click in-click-out footrest.
As your child grows and no longer needs a highchair, the Turnaround 3 in 1 Highchair can be detached from the stand and used as a booster seat that secures to a chair. The swivel base comes away from the main frame and double as a step. The circular base frame is designed to be tip-safe so even the most inquisitive of toddlers won’t topple it over.
What we love
Hauck has got simple and functional design down to a tee and the Turnaround 3 in 1 Highchair is no exception. It has longevity and each element (highchair, booster seat, step) is truly useful. The detachable seat is a great idea – anything that encourages children to eat at the table gets my vote.
The Turnaround is light (6.4kg) so it’s easy to move around the room, and the seat is large and deep (30cm deep, 27cm wide). Minnie, 11 months, thought that the swivel feature was great fun. When her mate Jack, 20 months, came to play we took the seat off the base and he sat up at the table with the adults.
Unlike some highchairs this one really is wipe clean. The rounded design and absence of nooks and crannies means than even after a session with the messiest eater it comes up looking like new. The bold blue/lime green colour scheme will brighten any kitchen,.
Paying £59.99 for essentially three product is a bargain.
What to watch out for
If there is one rule of baby gear it’s that it should be easy to put together. And whilst the instructions for the Hauck Turnaround 3 in 1 Highchair are clear, setting up this highchair involved a lot of huffing and puffing followed by brut force.
The seat fixes onto a circular base, which in turn fits onto the frame. Simple. But the stays that support the base were very hard to get into position and the tray, which is held in place by two catches, was impossible. After 10 minutes of trying I gave up.
Minnie has been using a highchair for nearly six months and fits perfectly into her Brio Sit. But in the Turnaround 3 in 1 she looked tiny; her feet dangled way above the footrest (which is not adjustable) and the harness was several inches too big all round, even at its smallest size.
Who is the Hauck Turnaround 3 in 1 Highchair best for?
Parents with big babies or toddlers who have plenty of room and don’t need a folding highchair.
The Hauck Turnaround 3 in 1 Highchair is a simple, functional bit of kit that will grow with your child and has a novel swivel feature. But it’s big, bold and shouts plastic and the basic design means that it can’t be folded away out of sight.
