iCandy is a UK-based buggy company that's previously rolled out the fruity-sounding Apple, the Pear and the Cherry pushchairs. Until now, the iCandy Pear was the only tandem in the range.
The iCandy Peach Blossom Twin use the chassis of the single iCandy Peach Stroller, and adds two carrycots or two seat units (both included in the £850 price). You can even add two Maxi-Cosi car seats to create the iCandy Peach Blossom Twin travel system. This double buggy puts the seats in a slightly stacked, tandem-like arrangement, rather than side by side.
Weighing 8.9kg with wheels and shopping basket, the chassis is light and made from corrosion-resistant, polished aluminium. To fold it, you just push the handle toward the base unit. No fuss, no faffing about. With the seat units on, it weighs 14.82kg, or with the carrycots, it’s 15.7kg.
The handle is height adjustable to four different positions, which is great considering we’re not all eye-to-eye with our partners. The handle is soft and spongy, too. Other useful features include an extra large shopping basket and puncture resistant rear tyres.
The carrycots mean you can use the Peach Blossom Twin from birth. They can be used until your twins can sit up unaided. They’re safety tested and are approved for overnight sleeping, which means you can use them like Moses baskets on trips away. They also fold down to help save space in the car.
What we love
The iCandy Peach Blossom Twin has been raved about online. And it’s nice to see it has lived up to it. Firstly, it handles wonderfully. And the one-handed folding system really does just take one hand.
When my 7-month-old baby Minnie and her friend Maggie, also 7 months, tried out the iCandy Peach Blossom Twin, both were comfortable and seemed cushioned. Both Minnie and Maggie can be tetchy when it comes to pushchair outings, but neither had the arched backs or big tears we’ve experienced before.
iCandy claims that the Peach Blossom Twin has the footprint of a single buggy. It is very slimline and it handles like a dream. We conquered pavements, corners and steps easily and doorways proved no problem either.
Adding the seat units is simple, especially with the one-handed seat removal system. The slots for the adaptors are colour coded, preventing you from putting the wrong adaptor in wrong hole. Great idea!
What to watch out for
The seat units for the iCandy Peach Blossom Twin aren’t created equal: the lower seat unit can take a child up15kg, the upper one is up to 20kg. The reasoning behind this by iCandy is that one twin will be larger than the other. While it might sound reasonable in theory, it doesn’t actually work for every one - Minnie’s dad and his identical twin are genetic clones of each other and have been basically the same size since day dot!
The carrycots face in towards each other so only one baby at a time can be facing you. Also, the carrycots are small. When used with the seat units (pushchair mode), both seats are forward not parent-facing. It’s also difficult to get your baby in the lower seat out.
Only the upper seat of the Peach Blossom Twin has a leg rest. And because the bumper bar doesn’t swivel, you have to take it off completely or wriggle your tot into position behind the bumper bar.
To fold the buggy flat, you need to take everything off, such as adaptors and seat units. Also, if you want cosytoes, these will cost you an extra £64.20 each
Who is the iCandy Peach Blossom Twin best for?
Trendy twin parents after a double buggy without a big footprint.
The iCandy Peach Blossom Twin is stylish and slim. Its one-hand folding mechanism lives up to its name, and the carrycots are a great sleep solution for folks who want to travel when their babies are young. However, it is costly and your twins can’t both face mum or dad at the same time.
