As a highchair, the Juice is suitable from 6 months to around 3 years. The wipe-clean, plastic, moulded seat features a removable centre post to stop your baby from slumping, a removable plastic tray and removable 5-point safety harness (the harness and post can be removed for use as a chair).
The durable foam seat pad can also be removed making it easier to clean. To slide the tray on, push it onto the hollow spaces in the arms of the chair.
You’ll need a screwdriver and a dose of patience to assemble the Juice - there are lots of parts but the instructions are clear and easy to follow. In highchair mode the tray sits at a height of 75cm, thanks to legs extensions that snap into place. Rubber bungs form the feet. To convert the highchair into a junior chair, you remove the bungs and slide the legs out.
At 5.56kg, the Juice is light and easy to move thanks to the carrying holes at the side.
The Juice is available in white with a choice of black, raspberry or apple seat pad, harness and tray insert.
What we love
Minnie, 2, loved the Juice as a junior chair and converting it was quick, although it did require a good tug to pull the legs out of their sockets. It quickly became her TV chair and attaching the tray was great for play dough or doing small jigsaws.
I loved being able to remove the seat pad and being sure that I’d found all the after-meal debris. Other mums have commented on how easy it is to clean and that the tray doesn’t stain, even with a dreaded oily tomato sauce.
The carry holes in the side of the chair make it easy to pick up and move and the choice of colours means that the Mamas & Papas Juice will fit in any modern stylish kitchen.
What to watch out for
For a simple highchair that doesn’t fold, £75 seems a lot of money to pay out, especially when there are similar style highchairs around with a lower price point. And although being able to convert the highchair to a junior chair is a great selling point, you may not feel this is worth the extra dough.
As a highchair, there’s only one seat height, which suited our needs but may not work for everyone. The Juice was perfect for Poppy, 13 months, because she can sit up straight but because it doesn’t recline I’m not sure she would have been able to use it at 6 months of age.
Like many highchairs, the harness is made from a woven fabric that absorbs every speck of food and is hard to keep clean.
Whilst the Juice is quite compact, I still managed to kick the legs every time I walked past.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Juice Highchair best for?
Mums and dad who like modern kit that lasts beyond the baby stage.
A simple, stylish chair that’s great for older babies and toddlers. Being able to convert the Juice to a junior chair is a USP that extends its life considerably. But if you’re tight on space and you prefer the natural look this one is not for you.
