Pros

  • Beautiful swaddle wrap and cute matching hat in breathable merino wool

Cons

  • An expensive outlay if your baby hates being swaddled

While you can swaddle your baby in just about any piece of fabric, the Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap elevates swaddling to a high art.

Whoever coined the phrase 'sleeping like a baby' obviously never saw a tiny newborn flailing around, waking herself up due to the startle reflex. Swaddling - wrapping your baby up snugly - helps her feel secure and stops that dreaded waking up!

The Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap is made from 100% merino wool, which effectively creates a microclimate around your baby's body and keeps her at the right temperature. The fabric stretches around your baby, making it easy to tuck her in nice and tight! The wrap comes in four soft colours - including soft pink and baby blue - and has a matching beanie with embroidered detail.

What we love

Just the picture on the packaging of a tiny sleeping baby swaddled in one of these wraps is enough to make your heart melt - but it's cleverly designed, too. The Cocooi has a 'pocket' for your baby's legs, plus two wraps to tuck around her body and arms. If you're not sure about how to swaddle your baby properly, there's even a video on YouTube to show you how.

The breathable merino wool is huggably soft and the matching beanie is a very cute finishing touch.

What to watch out for

Not all babies like being swaddled - my little girl likes it but even she kicked her way out of the leg pocket every time I put her in it. I ended up using the wrap as a blanket when she was in her buggy, which made it a rather expensive experiment. I also found it strange that with all the attention to detail and design, the Merino Kids tag sticks out right where your baby's neck should be - not the best idea when you're trying to convince her that this wrap is a cosy, comfy place to be.

Who is the Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap and Beanie best for?

Grandparents wanting to treat the newest addition to their clan - or new parents who want to splurge a little.

MadeForMums verdict

The Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap is a gorgeous piece of baby kit - but make sure your baby likes being swaddled before you invest in one! The use of 100% merino wool helps keep your baby at the right temperature, makes it breathable and feels good, too.
