What we love
The one thing you need from your maternity wardrobe is comfort. I lived in my Next Under the Bump maternity jeans and was quite sad when I lost my bump! Next offer a good range of maternity jeans, but I found the Under the Bump (they are called Core boot cut in the current catalogue) worked for me. I had assumed that jeans or trousers which sat under my bump would be constantly slipping down but the Next jeans have jersey lined pockets which means they stay in place. The soft denim meant they were very comfortable on my ever expanding waist.
I also bought some over the bump jeans, but I felt a bit like humpty dumpty when I had them on. They come with a huge bit of jersey fabric which you stretch up and over your bump. I was forever trying to pull my top down to cover this. I would definitely recommend trying on different styles. Obviously this is the last thing you feel like doing, when you are pregnant. Being hot, feeling fat and shopping really do not make for a pleasant trip. Bite the bullet and go for it. A great pair of maternity jeans will see you through you whole pregnancy.
Next maternity jeans come in a good range of colours and sizes. What I also loved about the Next range is that they do different leg lengths. I am 5’ and have to cut about 4” off any pair of jeans I buy. Being pregnant, I thought there is no way I will find a pair. Next came to the rescue! The short leg length was perfect for me.
What to watch out for
I don’t have any negative comments about the Next Under the Bump jeans. My only complaint would be with the store itself. The maternity section was in a corner of the children’s section. This meant that I had to cue to use the changing rooms with a lot of school age children and their parents. This would have been okay had I not been shopping in the school holidays! Why can’t the maternity section be with the women’s wear?
Who is my Next Under the Bump maternity jeans best for?
Any pregnant woman who wants to be comfortable and look good to boot.
These jeans were the basis of my entire maternity wardrobe. The fit and comfort were great. They washed really well and are currently in my wardrobe waiting for my waistline to expand again. Hopefully from another pregnancy, not from eating too much chocolate! Watch this space!!
