Nuna is a baby brand that most recognised for its stylish and inventive pushchairs and car seats, such as the Mixx Next and Pipa Urbn. Their baby bouncer and chair, the LEAF Grow proves to be no exception.

This luxury bouncer does exactly what it says on the tin and will 'grow' with your child. From baby to toddler to big kid — the bouncer can take up to 60kg and adapts to provide a seat that your baby won't soon outgrow.

Starting out as a bouncer seat featuring the brand's unique, motorless sway, inspired by – according to the brand – "the carefree float of a leaf in a gentle breeze" – to a toddler seat then a lounging chair for big kids, the longevity of use really helps to justify the £250 price tag.

About our parent tester

Mum-of-2, Theviya, tested the Nuna LEAF grow bouncer with her 7-week-old son and 4-year-old son.

Her youngest son tested it during naps and play time with its toy bar, and her 4 year old enjoyed using the seat as a chair whilst watching television.

How easy is it to set up the Nuna LEAF Grow?

It was extremely easy to set up the bouncer; it took less than 30 seconds and no tools were required. The instructions were clear, concise and the images helped with assembly.

How does the motion of the Nuna LEAF grow bouncer work?

The mechanical rocking feature only requires one push, then the side-to-side swing motion lasts for over 2 minutes – with no batteries or plug required. This does however mean that you have to restart it every 2 minutes if you're using it with a young baby. Toddlers or older children can control the motion themselves, if they want to use it.

I found the movement quality to be gentle, smooth, peaceful and really mimics the rocking that parents do with their babies.

The rocking feature can also be locked so it can be used as a standalone chair, which my 4 year old loved.

How comfortable did your children find the Nuna LEAF grow bouncer seat?

Very! My 7-week-old son fell asleep within the first minute of sitting in the bouncer! The quality of the padding in the seat is excellent – it is very soft to the touch and extremely comfy for both of my children. The bouncer also provided adequate support for my 7-week-old baby and, as mentioned before, it easily put him to sleep.

How stable and safe does the Nuna LEAF grow bouncer seat feel?

I found the LEAF grow bouncer to be incredibly robust and sturdy. The base seems strong and made of durable metal, and stays firmly in place when on the floor. My 4 year old is very active and the seat didn't tip over when he was sitting in it, thanks to the heavy weight and strength of the bouncer's base.

I also found that the 3-point harness ensured that my baby stayed securely in the chair when it was swaying.

How does the Nuna LEAF grow adjust to grow with your children?

The bouncer chair transitions well between baby and toddler, all it requires is for the covers and padded newborn insert to be removed. The first time I tried to do this I found the cover was hard to remove as it was secured to the base very well. However, I found subsequent times I tried to do this it was much easier.

There are 3 recline positions which are excellent for each age range. The lowest recline position is very relaxing, but I would prefer a completely flat position for my newborn.

My 4-year-old son was very comfortable in the chair and loved putting his arms and legs on the chair whilst it was rocking.

I loved that this bouncer accommodates both of my children. It's the only bouncer on the market that holds up to 60kg and I found it to be very strong and durable, so should last as my children grow older too.

What did you think of the design and aesthetic of the bouncer seat?

I think this is one of the most stylish bouncers on the market, with 3 lovely colours to choose from that all have a luxurious appearance. The bouncer itself is well-made and very aesthetically pleasing.

The LEAF grow fitted in perfectly with our home decor. The colour is soft and neutral and blends in well with the light colours we use in our home.

How easy is it to clean the Nuna LEAF grow bouncer seat?

I found it very easy to clean. The main covers and toy bar material are machine washable at 30 degrees, but the toys are wipe-clean only.

How portable is the Nuna LEAF grow?

The seat is heavy due to its very sturdy base (which is needed to accommodate 60kgs of weight). However, I was able to move it between rooms without difficulty – but do bear in mind that it is slightly heavier than most other baby bouncers.

How easy is it to store the NUNA LEAF Grow bouncer seat?

The seat is quite large but we found that it doesn't take up too much space. However, it does not fold or store compactly. If you want to fold your bouncer after use, this is not an option with the LEAF Grow bouncer.

Plus, once assembled, it is hard to disassemble.

What is in the box?

  • Base
  • Seat
  • Newborn padded insert
  • Toy bar and 3 toy attachments
  • Instruction booklet

Is the Nuna LEAF Grow worth the money?

At an RRP of £250, it is undoubtedly one of the more expensive baby bouncers on the market — but I think the price reflects the luxurious quality of the bouncer. The material is very soft to the touch and ideal for baby's and children's delicate skin. The materials are also durable so the bouncer should last for several years and genuinely grows with your baby, which makes it a great investment.

Is it made from sustainable or recyclable materials?

The newborn insert is 100% cotton which is delicate on the baby’s skin. The main cover is 100% polyester. The product is sustainable as it can be used for many years unlike other bouncers which do not last as long.

Can the Nuna LEAF grow bouncer be repaired?

It comes with a 5-year warranty that can be extended to 7 years. A QR code is provided for this in the packaging.

Was the packaging eco-friendly?

The packaging was mainly cardboard with a small amount of styrofoam around the base. A very small amount of plastic packaging was around the base, seat and toy bar. There were plastic ties securing the base to the cardboard packaging due to the heavy weight of the base.

MadeForMums verdict

This is such an excellent bouncer! The Nuna LEAF grow is designed to last and not easily broken or toppled during use. It's made from very soft materials, is comfortable for babies and children of different ages, plus has a very stylish and aesthetic look. I like how it blends in with home decor and feels more elevated than most children’s bouncers. I would definitely recommend the Nuna LEAF Grow bouncer as it genuinely will grow with your child, can hold up to 60kg and does not need to be plugged in or charged.
