The metoo is best described as a seat that clamps on to the edge of a table. It means your baby or toddler is always at table height, and ensures you’re not trying to attach a booster to whatever style of chair your relatives/local café throw your way. But can a seat that screws on to a table really be totally safe?
To be honest, I wasn’t so sure at first about the safety. A little part of me was very nervous about screwing the Phil and Teds metoo on to my table and plopping my child into it…so I borrowed someone else’s! My friend Karen brought her little boy Harry around to eat with my daughter Rosie. Harry is a big boy, much taller and heavier than Rosie, so I thought he’d be a good tester. And I could’ve taken comfort from the fact that the restaurant chain Wagamama uses these foldable highchairs on a daily basis.
What we love
There’s not much to dislike about the Phil and Teds metoo. It’s so nice to see a travel product do its job. It really is a highchair of the smallest dimensions possible.
The Phil and Teds metoo arrived in a box not much bigger than a pack of A4 paper. You take it out, screw it on and that’s it – job done. It takes about two minutes – and that’s allowing time to double check the screws are as tight as possible, because I was petrified Harry would sit in it and fall to the floor!
I screwed the Phil and Teds metoo on to my table (which I wasn’t worried about as there are pads to protect the wood) and we sat Harry inside it. It was quick and easy, and Harry was comfortable. Once he was fed, we took him out, unscrewed the metoo and put it back in its box. It really is that simple.
Once you get over the scary part and understand the Phil and Teds metoo has been tested a gazillion times for safety, there really isn’t anything to dislike. You can keep using it until your child is 3 years old (or 40kg in weight), the fabric is washable (albeit by hand), there’s a 4-point harness and crotch restraint and it won’t set you back much more than £30. What’s not to love?
I will definitely be using the metoo when I visit friends and family, as well as throwing it in my suitcase when we’re on our travels. I couldn’t recommend it more.
What to watch out for
The Phil and Teds metoo obviously won’t work on every table in every household. A nice, chunky wooden rectangular number like mine couldn’t be more perfect but a round or curved one would be trickier and a glass table is a big no-no.
Who is the Phil and Teds metoo best for?
Anyone looking for a very portable highchair for up-to-the-table meals away from home.
The Phil and Teds metoo is a fantastic little product. It’s so light and robust, you can pack the box in your suitcase when travelling without any problems. It’s also comfy, does the job well and isn’t over-priced.
