The Philips AVENT DECT SCD530 Baby Monitor combines the latest cordless digital technology for super sound quality and some very desirable features.

The Philips AVENT DECT SCD530 Baby Monitor is one of the latest releases from Philips AVENT. DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology) basically means that the monitor will relay a clear sound from baby to parent avoiding any interference. This is a real benefit, as many monitors rely on a basic digital reception, which is easily interrupted by other electronic devices in the home. It really does give you peace of mind and the sound quality is superb.

The Philips AVENT DECT SCD530 Baby Monitor also has a thermometer that constantly relays the humidity and temperature of your baby’s room directly to the parents unit.

What we love

The monitor was very easy to set up and use. The parent and baby units are so easy to use that we didn’t even read the instructions!

I think the best feature is parent talk back. This allows you to communicate with your baby via the monitor. We use this function a lot and 2-year-old thinks it is great fun, almost like a baby walkie-talkie!

I also love the handy travel bag it comes with. This was great for keeping the monitor safe and tidy when travelling – a nice addition.

We really like the remote control ability of the parent unit. It allows us to activate the music and light from downstairs. This function has sent Biba back to sleep on more than one occasion. Money well spent, I think you’d agree!

What to watch out for

There are only five lullaby choices on this monitor. This is much fewer than other similar priced monitors on the market.

The parent unit, as well as mains power, only takes a specially manufactured rechargeable battery.

We also found the light on the baby unit to be dull.

Who is the Philips AVENT DECT SCD530 Baby Monitor best for?

New parents after a digital monitor they can use to soothe their baby without entering the nursery.

MadeForMums verdict

The Philips AVENT DECT SCD530 Baby Monitor is a very practical monitor that gives clear communication between parent and baby. Although it is at the higher end of the price range, its remote control ability, talk back and range of features make it well worth the cost.
