The Silver Cross Jet 5 is a luxury travel stroller that blends style, convenience, and functionality – exactly what you'd expect from this trusted heritage brand. An upgraded version of the Jet 3, this model offers several key enhancements that make it the perfect choice for parents who love to travel.
One of its standout features is its cabin-approved size that allows the Jet 5 to fit in most overhead compartments and making it perfect for air-travel. Weighing just 7.5kg, the stroller features a lightweight, compact frame whilst supporting up to 22kg (48lbs) allowing it to be used from newborn to 4 years old. The stroller also boasts a one-hand fold mechanism ensuring easy manoeuvrability whether navigating busy city streets or boarding a flight.
With an RRP of £345 – although regularly on offer for around £295 – it's positioned as a premium travel stroller alongside the likes of the Cybex Orfeo, from £319.95. However, Silver Cross is known for heritage, quality, and innovation. With a legacy dating back to 1877, the brand is synonymous with luxury and premium craftsmanship that justifies the high-end price tag.

How easy is the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller to build?
It was really easy and took me a minute max to build. It just took a moment to work out how to unfold the pushchair but the rest – attaching the wheels and bar – is self-explanatory.
The instructions were very simple but the set-up is straightforward and can be done without instructions; I barely glanced at them.
How easy is it to fold and unfold the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
With some practice, folding can be done one-handed but it can take a moment to get used to pushing the buttons together. Opening is a bit tricker, and you will definitely need two hands to hold the pushchair down and fasten the clips. The front wheels also need to be stabilised before you can fasten the clips which can be fiddly. But, once you get the hang of the buttons, the stroller pretty much folds itself together.
One thing to be aware of – when unfolding it can sometimes feel like you are forcing the clips open, and they can sound like they might break. They don't, so no need to be alarmed!

How do you fold the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
- Press both buttons on the handlebar – located on either side of the Silver Cross badge – simultaneously to release the locking mechanism.
- While holding the buttons, gently push the handlebar downward towards the front wheels.
- Push together into a suitcase-like shape and the stroller will automatically lock together.
How do you unfold the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
- Locate the clips on the side of the stroller and lift up slightly to release the safety catch.
- Pull up the handlebar until the frame starts to unfold.
- Push the seating area down firmly until it clicks into place.
- Check that the clips on the side are locked in.
How compact and portable is the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
The stroller folds down to an ultra-compact size (L25cm x W37cm x H60cm) that meets hand luggage requirements and makes it ideal for travel. The compact size is also great for visiting friends and family’s houses who may not have much room for a pram.
This stroller is perfect for storing at home, taking up no room at all, preventing the house from looking cluttered. It also fits in car boots and other tight spaces easily.

Is the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller lightweight and easy to carry?
It’s super lightweight both when folded and unfolded – weighing in at just 7.5kg, similar to the Bugaboo Butterfly at 7.3kg. The lightweight design and comfortable dual-handle makes it very easy to handle whilst holding the baby when using both the folded-up and pull-along design. It also comes with a travel cover but no case or shoulder strap.
Despite feeling far from heavy, there are even lighter options available in the travel stroller market. If weight is your main consideration, it may be worth checking out something like the Cybex Libelle at just 5.9kg.
How comfortable is the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller for your baby?
Very. The seat is well-padded and comfortable – my baby fell asleep in the pram every single time I used it. It reclines almost flat, perfect for the newborn stage or if they need to be more reclined for naps.
I also found the harness to be very secure. In fact, the magnetic design of the straps is one of my favourite parts of the stroller and makes it quick and easy to fasten. The harness is also extremely comfortable and not too restricting – my baby usually gets fussy when fastened up in any harness but not once did this happen with the Jet 5.

How smooth is the ride?
The Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller is smooth on everyday terrain like pavements, gravel, short and dry grass, but struggles on rougher terrain like woodland, wet or long grass and uneven cobblestones.
I found the front suspension fantastic for getting up and down kerbs, however the small wheels are not designed for rougher terrains and can make the ride jittery and occasionally come to a standstill.
How easy is it to manoeuvre the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
You can easily push and manoeuvre one-handed – I actually found it much easier than other pram designs, possibly due to its light weight. That being said, the Jet 5 feels very sturdy for how lightweight the design is.

How is the brake on the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
The foot brake works perfectly; it's secure and easy to use.
What do you think of the Silver Cross Jet 5's basket?
Not great. A large flaw of the stroller is that the basket isn’t easy to access. The bar across the middle makes it hard to get bags in and out, although is does offer enough storage space once items are squeezed in.

Do you rate the handlebar on the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
The handlebar is padded comfortably and at the perfect height for me. However, it is a fixed height and not adjustable so something to be aware of if it does not suit your liking as is.
What’s the hood like?
The Silver Cross Jet 5 hood was one of the biggest issues for me. It did not completely block out the sun, which often upset my baby. As this was in London during winter/early spring, I do worry how this would perform when travelling to sunnier countries.
Are there any other features you really loved about the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
The front bumper bar was extremely handy. We used it when the baby was in the pram and 2 of us were carrying it up small flights of stairs or high bumps. The baby also enjoyed sitting up and holding the bar when in the pram; it also felt more secure when the baby was positioned upright.

How sustainable is the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
I was pleased to read that the jersey fabrics used for the stroller are made from recycled plastic bottles. On the brand's website it also states that Silver Cross has made efforts to reduce plastic in packaging for some of its products.
Can the Silver Cross Jet 5 parts be repaired or replaced?
Silver Cross offers replacement parts, but availability may depend on the specific component and region.
Is the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller worth the money?
Coming in at £345, the Silver Cross Jet 5 offers premium quality and features for a mid-to-high price range. Depending on where you live, for example if you live in a city or a town, this stroller can be used as both an everyday and travel buggy, doubling its value and making it an even better investment. However, if you live in an area surrounded by rougher terrain such as woodland, long grass or cobblestones, a sturdier model may be better value.
Where can I buy the Silver Cross Jet 5 stroller?
It's available at John Lewis, Amazon and Silver Cross.
MadeForMums verdict
The Silver Cross Jet 5 is an ultra-lightweight, compact and stylish pushchair that I would recommend to people looking to use it for travel and/or urban life. While it has a few minor drawbacks – limited basket access, a sun hood that could be longer, and some struggles on rough terrain – for me, its convenience, quality, and practicality outweigh these issues.
