If you’re in the throws of potty training, but worried how you’ll go when away from home, the Tippitoes Travel Potty has the answer.

Tippitoes is the company that came up with the original doorway bouncer, and other products in the collection range from safety gates to cots. Its catch-cry is “affordable quality”.

The Travel Potty is one of around eight items in Tippitoes’ potty and toilet range. This handy sized loo on the move works by clipping the two pieces of plastic together before fitting a disposable bag to line it with. The liner bag has a piece of wadding within to soak up and catch the contents.

What we love

When potty training my 2-year-old daughter Esme first began, I was concerned about how she would manage whilst being out and about. However, the Tippitoes Travel Potty meant I needn’t have worried at all. It’s still a revelation to me that a travel potty can work so well. Esme has been more than happy to use the Tippitoes Travel Potty. At times, I’m not sure what we would have done without it.

Recently in a supermarket Esme declared, “Mummy, I need a wee.” Immediately, my full trolley was abandoned in my haste to find a toilet. Unfortunately a sign on the toilet door stated ‘closed’. The checkout assistant told me where the nearest public loo was. It was out of the question.

I took Esme back to the car, to the travel potty. And bless her, she managed to wee on it in the carpark of all places, saving her pants and my sanity.

It is this level of convenience that makes the Tippitoes Travel Potty so successful. It’s light and easy to carry around, so it’s not difficult to take it everywhere with you.

The Tippitoes Travel Potty is constructed from tough durable plastics (designed in white and grey) so there’s no way it can collapse under your toddler, unlike some I’ve been told may. This is mainly because the base has continuous contact with the floor and doesn’t depend upon fold-down legs. The plastic is easy to wash or wipe down and you simply throw the used liner bag away.

The potty is a good size for a toddler’s bottom - the diameter measures far wider than the potty I have at home.

According to the manufacturer, the unique selling point of this potty is that it is affordable quality. And with a price tag of £5.99 I certainly agree.

What to watch out for

When purchasing the Tippitoes Travel Potty you receive 10 of the disposable liners, though you may want to think ahead and buy more at the same time – they retail at £3.98 for a further 10.
