Will new tonies work on the original Toniebox?
With a new Toniebox 2 comes the release of new tonies— but are they backwards compatible with the original toniebox?
It's a big week in the world of toy releases, as tonies have released their brand-new product, the Toniebox 2.
The Toniebox 2 boasts an upgraded design, now suitable for ages 1+, as well as new colourways, and the exciting new games, interactive experiences and quizzes of Tonieplay.
With the release of the Toniebox 2 comes the release of the brand-new My First Tonies range, adorable soft tonies figures designed specifically for younger children.
However, the question on everyone's mind is this: will new tonies be backwards compatible? Or, to put it another way, will newly released Tonies function on the original Toniebox?

Will new Tonies work on the original Toniebox?
The answer is yes: both the Toniebox and the Toniebox 2 are fully compatible with the whole Tonies collection.
This means that your existing Tonies collection will work on the new Toniebox 2, and any new Tonies, including the My First Tonies range, will work on the original Toniebox.
However, it's important to bear in mind that the My First Tonies range is designed for kids aged 1-2, and should be used with the Toniebox 2, as it is certified for ages 1+, whereas the original Toniebox is certified for ages 3+.
Will Tonieplay work on the original Toniebox?
When it comes to Tonieplay, it's a different story. Tonieplay has been specifically designed for and is only compatible with the Toniebox 2.
This means that while you can experience plenty of magical stories with your favourite characters on the original Toniebox, you can't access the games, quizzes and interactive experiences that make up the world of Tonieplay.
